Janja Pasic
September 3, 2026
Peacefully, with family by her side, at University Hospital, London, on Thursday, September 3, 2026 in her 89th year. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Beloved wife of the late Mirko (2013) for 57 years. Loving father of Dan (Lorie) and Marko. Adoring and adored “Baba” of Mikhial (Kathy) and Nicholas (Laura) and “Prababa” (great-grandmother) to Gisele and Stefan. Dearly missed by brother Cedomir (Rada), sister Ljubica, sisters-in-law Jovanka, and Dragica (Robert), Ivka and Frana, and by her numerous nieces and nephews, as well as by extended family, both in Canada and abroad: she treasured them all. Predeceased by her parents Marko and Milica, sister Danke (Branko), Mara (Jere), brother Radoslav, and Gojko (Bosa).
She came to Canada in 1956 and never looked back as she left the village life in Konjevrate, Dalmatia in the former Yugoslavia to come and start a new life and family as the wife of Mirko. Janja was a life-long learner, despite her early formal education being cut short by World War II. During her 70 years in Canada she embraced every opportunity to learn; from mastering English as a new language, taking advanced sewing classes and later, learning how to navigate the internet on her iPad and utilize her iPhone Apps. Up until covid she attended pool fitness classes three times a week and later she always completed a daily walk to maintain her mobility and independence. She was a gifted cook and baker, with a focus on health and nutrition, and the results were always delicious and served with love. Janja’s life was a testament to the fact that curiosity has no age limit and a willingness to learn can take you farther than any diploma ever could. She stayed sharp, active and vibrant right up until the end, inspiring her family, friends and all who knew her.
Special thanks to the amazing staff at the Byron Family Medical Centre for their kindness, care and compassion over the years and in these last days at University Hospital.
