Jacqueline Ann Steel (née Woolley)

Born June 29, 1934, in Manchester, England.  She passed peacefully in her sleep at her home in London, Ontario, as she wanted, on Tuesday, October 20, 2026.  Loving mother of Sally (Bill).  Adored grandmother of Emma (Sean).  Predeceased by her son David (in 2023), husband Geoff (in 2012), sister Brenda, mother Doris and father William.  She will be missed by all the cousins in England.

Jackie was diagnosed with MS when she was 35 years old, but battled this disease with an unabashedly positive attitude and never allowed it to define her.  While she was a devoted and loving mother to her son and daughter, Jackie also worked full-time as a bank teller, then part-time as her disease progressed.

Since 2008, Jackie was aided by her live-in caregiver, Evangeline Bajamundi.  Vangie was devoted to Jackie and became her best friend.  She is now a part of our family.

A special thank you to the many kind St. Elizabeth PSWs (led by Christine and case managers Liza and Pauline) who helped with Jackie’s care over the years, and especially to Dr. Kirk Hamilton, who has made regular house calls to check on Jackie for the last 20+ years.  Thanks also to nurse Puple from the VON palliative care team.

Cremation has taken place.  A memorial service will be conducted at Westview Funeral Home, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, on Wednesday, October 28, at 11:00 am, with visitation beginning one hour prior at 10:00 am, a reception at noon and inurnment at Oakland Cemetery at 2:00 pm.
