Adelheid (Heidi) Gnausch

January 10, 2022

Passed away on Monday, January 10, 2022, in Windsor, ON. Loving wife of Armin (2021) for over 65 years. Adored sister of Elisabeth Schilhan and the late Richard Schilhan. Cherished aunt of Heidi Zimmer of Windsor and many nieces and nephews in Austria.  Heidi will be deeply missed by many friends in London, especially Dorrell and Martha. She was an avid gardener and a prideful homemaker. Heidi was also a passionate baker; her specialty was traditional Austrian cookies. Cremation has taken place and the family will privately celebrate Heidi’s life. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Heidi are asked to consider Alzheimer Society Southwest Partners or London Health Sciences Foundation.

Dear Aunt Heidi! Now the circle of your life has closed. Belonging to the so-called "war generation" your early personal life included deep experiences of life and death which eventually gave you a strong desire to survive and take matters in your own hands. Together with your beloved husband Armin you found a new home and happiness in London, Ontario. Apart from your outstanding diligence I think your true and inner essence manifested itself in many ways: In your philosophical thinking (I remember your beautiful letters), your love for music (you played the accordeon; while cooking you used to listen to opera arias and sing along with your beautiful singing voice), you loved your garden, especially the roses, you invited family and friends to wonderful dinners and "Kaffee und Kuchen" in the Austrian style. Until last you surprised us females in the family with fine presents you selected in Art&Crafts stores. Individually, you enjoyed your "cup of coffee". Later in the evening you and Armin (who was a fine winemaker) celebrated a good day´s end with a glass of wine. In the name of the family I thank you for your visits in Austria despite your sore back, they made your brother Richard, our father, very happy. Thank you for your friendly talks on the phone and all your loving attention and care over the years. We will all keep you in good memory. In Liebe und Dankbarkeit , deine ganze Familie, Uli und Günter from Austria
