Quietly at home on Wednesday, December 23rd, 2015, with Cheryl, his adoring wife of 42 years, by his side.  Beloved son of Rene and Bernice Canie, late of Sarnia, Ontario.  Al was kind, loving and generous, and always a gentleman.  He had a lifelong passion for health and fitness.  As Al requested, cremation has taken place.  A gathering for family and friends will be held at the Point Edward (Ontario) Community Hall/Arena, on Sunday, January 3rd, 2016 from 1 – 4 p.m.  Donations in memory of Al to a charity of your choice.

So sorry to hear of Al's passing. He was a great teammate in our time together at SCITS and an even better man.

I just heard about Al's passing. I attended Devine Street Public School with Al. Al & I (with significant help from his Mom) baked a cake, that we donated to raise funds for the Red Cross. Al was a good friend. Please accept my sincere condolences.

Dear Cheryl: I am so truly sorry for your loss. I know that Al was not just your husband, but your very best friend in the world. I have such fond memories of both you and Al as far back as I can remember. Spending every summer at your parent's house allowed me the opportunity to get to know all of you much better than I would have otherwise. And of course family reunions and family events kept us in touch over the years ... and for that i will always be grateful. Al was one of the kindest and most gentle men I have ever known and I admired the way he adored you! It will be the hardest thing in the future to see you without him. It just doesn't seem possible.
