Alda Maria Finn

Like many here in these tributes, I had the pleasure of working with Alda from the time she started at the London office. Over the years she showed her professionalism in her work, how she dealt with customers and co-workers. She always had a smile on her face and would not hesitate to take the time to answer questions. She was my go to for questions from clients on the IBM Support portal, and never failed to solve the issue. Since the closure of our office the opportunity to bump into each other was lost, but we did still have the opportunity to chat over messaging and when she chatted about the boys, she was always so proud. She will be dearly missed. My deepest and sincerest condolences to Greg, Andrew and Nick and others who have had the pleasure of knowing Alda.

I just made aware of Alda’s passing. I had the pleasure of working with Alda for over 20 years, I had only met her in person only a few times, as she worked in London and I was based in Massachusetts. I am very sorry for your families loss. RIP Alda.

I don't know what to say but have so much to say. My deepest sympathies to Greg, Nick and Andrew and all families and friends. When Nick and Andrew were small they watch the kids show The Wiggles and Alda would talk to me about Dorothy the dinosaur and bought me a Dorothy stuffie which I kept on my desk. I text her a few weeks ago to chat and told her that I still have Dorothy on my desk so she is working with me. Alda also introduced me to different music groups. We had talked about taking a trip to Portugal. Like others, we talked about cooking and would go to the cooking utensil store near the Covent Garden Market where we spent our lunch hour looking and giving her knowledge on the bake ware. She was my to go for cooking tips. A couple of weeks ago I texted her to ask what she would use for a middle layer in a layer cake, she responded "I'm a buttercream girl all the way". Alda was a great friend, as well as a co-worker (20+ years), an all round special person. Memories will warm our hearts. I miss you and our chats. Rest in peace.

I am deeply saddened to learn about Alda's passing, and I extend my heartfelt condolences to you and your family during this incredibly challenging time. Losing someone as kind and wonderful as her is truly heartbreaking. I fondly recall our college days, where Alda's place served as the central gathering spot for us to meet, study, and work on projects. While I may not remember much of the studying or projects, the companionship we shared helped me through those college years, and the memories we created will forever have a special place in my heart.

I had the pleasure of collaborating with Alda for 23 years from across the world and also to meet her on 2 occasions for work purposes when she left a great impression with her drive and warmth. She was passionate about her work, was always helpful and I also had a lot of respect for her as a person. I have been very affected by the news of her passing. Alda was an amazing person. Kind, thoughtful, generous with her time and resources and always willing to help. It was truly a privilege to get to know and work with her over the years, you immediately felt she had your back and she made you feel there is a solution to any challenge. She was fierce and passionate about her work and always stood up for what is right. I will forever treasure our laughs and chats about cooking, family, Portugal and raising children in a rapidly changing world. I am comforted knowing that she is no longer in pain and is now an angel watching over us all. Alda, may your beautiful amazing soul rest in eternal peace.

As expressed throughout these touching tributes, Alda was adored by all, near and far. Greg, Nick and Andrew, Jim and I are here for you always. We've had the blessing of being next/back door neighbours for nearly 25 years. I will always cherish the conversations Alda and I had over the fence and in our yards when we were working in our gardens. I remember one conversation in particular. We were discussing the planting of and taking down of trees in our neighbourhood. It was evident that Alda had done her homework and educated me on her belief in planting "Native Trees". She was as bright as her twinkling eyes, always happy and smiling. We will miss her. Your loss is great, Those in Heaven danced in celebration when they saw her arrive. We will be planting a "Native Tree" near the fence between our yards this spring in memory and honour of precious Alda. God bless you and the family at this most tender time.

It was my pleasure and honor to work with Alda these past several years. She was always engaging and open to discussion. She demonstrated great leadership and collaboration no matter what team she participated. My deepest sympathy to the Family and Friends. Everyone will deeply miss her.

Alda was a lovely colleague who always spoke positively and with humour about the work we all did. She was very good at what she did, she knew all the answers but what struck me was her jolly conversation and positive demeanour. IBM will greatly miss Alda :-(

I had the pleasure of working with Alda Finn over the last seven years. She was always passionate to speak up for her teams while at the same time facilitating discussion and welcoming differences in opinions. Alda was a great leader and always willing to help at any time. She led with honesty and integrity, and possessed the rare art to inspire others. My heart goes out to your family. I worked with Alda at IBM and truly understand her kindness, mischievous tone, and how she fiercely defended the people she cared about in our work environment. She was truly one of a kind and will be greatly missed!

I've known and work (interacted) with Alda for over 20 years. Although, when we started I was in the big London and Alda in the small London :-) the distance between us never stopped us from collaborating together from time to time. I have had the pleasure of working with Alda for many years. Although we were on different teams we interacted regularly and she was always so friendly & helpful. Even after I'd already asked her a half dozen questions, then follow up with , "Sorry Alda but I have 1 more question" she would patiently take time to answer. She made our workplace life brighter, and happier with everything she did. My heart goes out to all of her family.

Greg, Nick, Andrew may all your memories of Alda help you through this very difficult time. Alda was a gem, she had so much passion for her family,friends and work. I met Alda approx 23 years ago we became co-workers and more importantly friends. So many memories over the years of long nights working on project(s), to our Support trips to New Hampshire and Boston, Mass. Our daily trips to Starbucks for coffee/tea, and gab sessions of did you hear the latest news. As I write this it makes me smile thinking back over the years and how much Alda has touched my life and everyone she came in contact with. You are so missed Alda Rest Well my Friend.

Alda has always been helpful and kind. It was such a shock! I'm still trying to accept that we no longer have you around. Wish you peace and comfort.

I was so saddened to hear of Alda's passing. I have been fortunate to have worked in the same office as Alda for many years. She was the glue that held the office together and I went to her for help many times on a number of subjects. She was never my team lead, and I was never on the same team as Alda (which is a shame) but she was always there to answer my many dumb questions. I know I had asked her the same thing on a few occasions and she always took the time to help me and never showed any frustration to the fact that I may have asked her the same thing 6 months prior. We talked a few times about our sons as both heres and mine loved to play baseball. I know she was deeply involved in their love for the sport. Sending love to her family and close friends. I was very sad to hear the news. Although I've never met Alda in person, I've had the pleasure to work with Alda. She was always helpful and I could always count on her. Sending love, thoughts, and prayers during this tough time.

I've worked with Alda since I graduated, and she was a wonderful coworker. When starting out she was always someone I knew I could rely on to help me when I was lost, and her sense of humour made it really easy to feel comfortable. She will be greatly missed.

Very saddened to hear this news, just can't believe this! Alda was one of our senior team members at IBM, one of the best with so much knowledge and experience. Very expressive, and communicative, intelligent and hard-working, always cheerful and smiling. She was one of the interviewers who were part of my hiring process. I have been and always be so thankful to allow me to be a part of our outstanding support team. I worked with Alda for 20 years in the London Office and when i saw this VERY sad news this morning, i broke down crying and have not been able to get composure on myself since. Although we weren't close friends, she has made a mark on my heart in many different ways! Alda was GREAT at her job and she did it with such kindness, strength and courage and was always there to help when needed. I had the great pleasure to work with Alda for over 15 years. She was more than a coworker she became a friend, we would go for our daily morning or afternoon coffees at her favorite Starbucks . Alda was a big part of our IBM London office and will be greatly missed. Sign bright Alda.
