Alice Marie Andrews

October 4, 2012

Alice passed away peacefully with family at her bedside at Victoria Hospital in London on Thursday, October 4, 2012 at the age of 83 after a short battle with cancer. Born in Ethelbert, Manitoba to parents Anne and Peter Kalinovich, Alice is survived by her daughters Susan Andrews (Bob Caissie) of Brougham, Ontario and Nancy Miller (Mike) and grandchildren Scott (fiancé Sapphire Wood) and Brent of London. She also leaves behind her brothers Myron (Nancy) and David (Marilyn) and sister Mary Kozak (Sam deceased 2007) all of B.C. as well as numerous nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, in-laws, and close friends. Alice was predeceased by her husband Ron in 2010, and brother Orest 2006 (Rita deceased 2012). Alice and Ron were long-time residents of Waterloo where they owned Andrews Jewellers until their retirement in 1982. Alice had recently moved to Richmond Woods Retirement Apartments in London and immediately began making new friends and enjoying the company of her family. The family would like to extend special thanks to the doctors and nurses at Victoria Hospital for their compassionate care of Alice over the past weeks. A memorial service will be conducted at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Rd. N. London, Ontario on Tuesday, October 9, 2012. Visitors are welcome to meet with the family beginning at 3:30 p.m., after which a service will be held at 4:30 p.m. in the chapel. A reception and visitation will follow the service at 5:15 p.m. Donations to London Health Sciences Foundation in Alice’s memory would be greatly appreciated.

Sue and Nancy, so sorry to hear of the passing of your mom. She was a lovely and strong lady. My thoughts are with you.

Dear Susan and Nancy and all of your family, 'Heartbreaking' is the only word that comes to me... Aunt Alice was a beautiful, kind lady...and she was a wonderful Mom, as evidenced by you two beautiful, kind ladies... And what a great cook...since I was a little girl, I loved her perogies (only they weren't perogies-they were named something I can't spell-'put-a-heh' is my best phonetic rendering) Thinking of you... xo

To my great nieces and family members, it is such a shock to hear about Alice. I shall miss her dearly and will say a special prayer. Love to all Aunt Ella

Dear Sue and Nancy, our deepest condolences on your Mom. I have so many great memories of going to your parents' place when we were kids. Alice was a keeper of traditions, and it was very special to be a part of many Christmas eve dinners in years past. In fact, thanks to your Mom, i even feel a connection to the prairie Ukrainian Canadian heritage. Our thoughts will be with you from Belgium. Chris and Sara
