Alice McEwan (née Worrall)
October 25, 1931 - May 9, 2026
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Alice McEwan (née Worrall) on Saturday, May 9, 2026, in her 95th year, in London, Ontario.
Born on October 25, 1931, in Belfast, Northern Ireland, Alice lived a rich and meaningful life marked by music, family, friendship, and generosity of spirit.
Alice was predeceased by her beloved husband, Gavin McEwan (2016), her infant daughter Deborah Eileen (1967), her parents John and May Worrall, and her brother Jack Worrall.
She is lovingly remembered by her children Ann McEwan (Ray Castellan), Lynn McEwan of London, John McEwan (Carol) of Colorado; her grandchildren Jessica Feasby (Chris) of Toronto, Mitchell McEwan, Lindsay Jungen (Brandon); and her great-grandson Ashton McEwan of Colorado. Her extended family includes sisters-in-law Joan Moneypenny (Maurice) and Margaret Haddow of Northern Ireland, along with nieces and nephews in Northern Ireland, Scotland, Australia, and the United States.
Alice’s life journey took her from Belfast to Toronto in 1955, then to Southfield, Michigan in 1965, before settling in London, Ontario in 1973, where she continued to build a warm and welcoming home.
Music was one of Alice’s lifelong passions. From singing in the Ulster Girls Choir in Belfast and church choirs, to serving as children’s choir director at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church and singing with the London Fanshawe Symphonic Chorus, music was a constant source of joy throughout her life. She loved opera, musical performance, and sharing her love of music with others.
Alice and Gavin loved to travel, especially to Europe and Florida, and enjoyed dancing together, including learning to square dance. Alice also loved the seaside and being by the water, with family vacations in Southampton and day trips to Port Stanley and Bayfield becoming treasured memories.
Alice enjoyed knitting, baking, book clubs, bridge, and time spent with friends through shared hobbies and community groups.
But above all else, Alice loved family. Her home was the heart of countless family celebrations, gatherings, laughter, and memories. She created a place where people felt welcomed, cared for, and loved.
Alice will be remembered for her warmth, creativity, beautiful voice, and the love she poured into the people around her. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered always. The family extends their sincere gratitude to the staff at LHSC-UH, especially Dr. Balout and Dr. Berry for their compassion and support.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 20, 2026 from 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. at Westview Funeral Home, 709 Wonderland Road North, London.
