Alina Sujak-Sujkowski (née Orzeszek)

We knew the day would come, and we cherished the days we had, but that has not lessened the absence we feel.  With immense heartache and gratitude, we share the passing of our “Babcia,” Alina Barbara Sujak-Sujkowski (née Orzeszek).  Surrounded by love, she took her final breath on Thursday, September 17, 2026.  She was a loving friend, sister, aunt, Musia, and proud Babcia.

Babcia was born in Warsaw, Poland, on February 6, 1940, during World War II.  Like many, she survived the atrocities and hardships that Poles endured during the war and the communist regime afterwards.  She was proudly Polish.  After marriage, she immigrated to Windsor, Ontario, in the late sixties in hopes of a better life. She gave birth to her one and only daughter, Ania. Babcia was a homemaker, waitress, and she finally found her calling as a PSW, working for both the Red Cross and St. Elizabeth for over 15 years.

For the past 19 years, Babcia was an honorary resident of London, Ontario. When her “ukochana wnuczka” Natasia was born, Babcia preferred to stay with her for long periods of time instead of going home to Windsor.  The bond they shared was strong and unbreakable.

Babcia enjoyed and loved her family, including our dog Oakley, her adopted family and the many friendships she had.  She enjoyed drinking cognac or brandy and loved having good meals with good people, sharing many laughs and stories. She is profoundly missed and will forever remain in our hearts. Na zawsze pozostaniesz w naszych sercach.

In keeping with Babcia’s wishes, she has been cremated.  She wished to be celebrated and remembered every day without a funeral, mass, or celebration of life.  When and if we are ready, she will be placed in her desired “condo.” Until that time, we will keep her with us as our angel.
