Alma “June” Smith

August 16, 2025

Alma “June” Smith passed away August 16th 2025, around 3:30 p.m. surrounded by family at her home, Southbridge London Long-Term-Care Home from late-stages Dementia. June lived until the age of 90, born on the 27th of June, 1935 in London, Ontario to the late Herman Jacob Perry, and Mary Alma (neé Faircloth) Smith, and sister to the late William Perry Smith and Ronald Leslie Smith all of London. She was mother to Dave Schelken, the late Kathleen Anne Morrison and grandmother to Cory and Cassandra Morrison, Christina Barker and Carly Thompson.

June will be remembered for her contagious energy, her witty humour and love for the arts. Always bringing joy and laughter to those around her, June was and will remain the pure definition of a passionate visual artist and dedicated musician. Playing in bands and creating art into her 80s, June was immersed in her passions all her life and followed them wherever they took her. From running her own ceramics store, to modelling, to selling cards, painted rocks, water colour paintings, sketches and so much more, she inspired everybody around her with her artistic talents and love for all that life had to offer. She was not only a mother, a grandmother and a friend, but also a beloved member of the Portuguese Band, the Tomato Soup Band, The Stratford Band and so many more artistic communities in the London area and surrounding.

June lived life her way, and truly made the most of it. Her artistic nature and passion for music lives on through her grandchildren, and her fearless approach to life will continue to inspire all those who had the pleasure of meeting her. June is greatly loved by many, and will be dearly missed every single day.

“Music is everywhere, just listen.”
