Andrea Kristine Myles

December 5, 2020

May 17, 1985 – December 5, 2020

Andrea passed away peacefully, at St. Joseph’s Hospice, of London, on Saturday, December 5, 2020, at the young age of 35, after a brave battle with cancer. Beloved daughter of Lynn and David Myles; and loving sister of Dayna and Sean Myles. Dear niece of Karen McNeil and Frank Baltzer, Cliff and Jane Myles, Rick Myles, Laurie Myles, Laurie and Larry Bauman, and Louise and Tim Evans. She will forever be missed and loved by all her cousins, extended family, friends and her 19-year old kitty cat, Honey Girl.

Andrea will be forever remembered by all, for her positive, fun-loving attitude and infectious smile and giggle. Andrea had a passion for travel, having backpacked across Europe, Central America, Southeast Asia and Africa. She developed a joy for cooking cuisines from around the world and often hosted dinner parties for her friends and family. Andrea was also an avid scuba diver and adventurer. With all her travels, Andrea’s favourite place in the world was still the family cottage at Hardwick Cove in the Bruce Peninsula, where she loved to kayak, swim, boat, dance and hike. Andrea had a competitive side to her, where she would always win at board games and cornhole. Andrea followed in her father’s footsteps to become an Electrical Engineer at the University of Waterloo. Upon graduation in 2008, she worked for the last twelve years in a job she deeply loved, as a Senior Embedded Software Developer at Echologics in Toronto. She started with the organization at its roots and was integral in creating the company culture. Andrea loved social gatherings and would often plan events for both her friends and colleagues. Her giving heart led to her travelling multiple times to volunteer to help build Melody School in Guatemala. She also has been sponsoring the education of a child at the school since 2013. Andrea lives on in the memories and hearts of everyone she touched, she will never be far away. Ange is now our Angel.

A private, memorial service will be conducted at Westview Funeral Chapel, 709 Wonderland Road North, London on Friday, December 11, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. The family welcomes friends to view the service via livestream. Registration is required to view the livestream of the service.

Our deepest condolences. Andrea always had the brightest of smile and a laughter that made us laugh with her all throughout Waterloo. We danced at our wedding well into the night and will hold that night in memory.

~ Christie and James Ho

So sorry to hear this very sad news. Nothing can compare with losing a child. She sounded like a wonderful human being. My heart goes out to you and your family Lynn.

~ Margie Eberle

Though I had the privilege of having known Andrea for just under two years through work, it will be hard to ever forget her. She had such a unique way of bringing everyone together. When I first met her in the lunchroom in 2019, she had just come back from one of her amazing expeditions assisting others. Hearing her stories of her travels and her various causes was super inspiring and infectious. It is still hard to comprehend that she is no longer here with any of us. May her legacy long live on in those that she personally touched. My heart goes out to all of her family and friends during this unimaginable time.

~ Barbara

Dear Lynn and Dave, we are really sorry to hear about Andrea's passing, it is very tragic when someone so young and beautiful, full of energy and so talented goes so early .

~ ray and Anne Lloyd

Andrea was such a big part of our Echologics family. She brought us together on so many occasions from the social committee, to salad club, to solving our biggest hardware issues, to just making everything just a little bit lighter with her bright smile and contagious laugh. She will truly be missed. My sincere condolences to her family, friends, and Echo colleagues.

~ Jay Shah

Andrea was the kind of person who lifts up everyone around her. I saw that every day when we worked together at Echologics. I will always remember and admire her - for her constructive attitude, her contagious joy for life, and the way she brought people together. My deepest condolences to her family and loved ones.

~ Rob Welch

Andrea was one of the big factors in making Echologics a great place to work. Andrea had great ideas and did a wonderful job planning fun events which were inclusive and exciting for all involved. From chili cook-offs, to salad clubs, to holiday parties, I will miss her enthusiasm for the little things and her joyful laugh. My condolences to Andrea's family and loved ones.

~ Matthew Barrett

Her spirit will live on beyond what the mere atoms of her body could contain. You are with her, she is with you and her amazing family and friends. She knew how much she was loved and that love lives on. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

We had the privilege of knowing Andrea for only a brief time. I have known Andrea for the past 7 years at Echologics and have had the opportunity to work with her. She was very Kind, gentle and had a very infectious laughter that you could hear across a room. She brought us together as a work family on many occasions from potlucks, to Christmas parties to work events. We will miss you dearly Andrea and I pray that you rest in peace in your heavenly abode. Rest in peace dear Andrea and may the good lord give your family and friends the strength to bear this unbearable loss.

~ Neeta

Hearing of Andrea's passing was shocking and painful. I had so much fun working closely with her at Echologics from 2012-2015 from which I have particularly fond memories of all our business trips together (Ottawa, London, Niagara Falls, Boston, New Orleans). She had such an amazing personality and was always fun to be around. Board game night will never be the same without her... You will be deeply missed, Andrea. My sincere condolences to her family, friends, and loved ones...

~ Filip S

The strong, silent type; Andrea was often quietly thinking things through. I had the pleasure of getting to know her on the Jan 2019 trip to Guatemala and at the cottage. A team player with a will to win, but have fun too. My heart goes out to the family. Such a devastating loss.

~ Dianna Knight

Words can not express the feelings surrounding the loss of a loved one so young. I was fortunate to meet and spend time with Andrea in Guatemala. What struck me the most about her was her radiant , infectious smile, warm quiet nature and her internal strength. This beautiful day is a testament to who she was, a bright ray of sunshine. Now she will go on to be a radiant star above, shining down forever on all who knew and loved her. Her legacy will carry on in all those she touched. My heart goes out to all of you during this challenging time.

~ Barbara math

Dear Lyn, Dave and family. There are not adequate words to convey my deepest sympathy. I was so fortunate to spend quite time with Andrea in Guatemala where she embraced every job, child, person and adventure with equal enthusiasm. Her lightness of spirit, easy giggle, grit and intelligence never waned as she laid brick after brick for days on end. Back in Toronto every time I saw her the first thing that grabbed me was that beautiful smile. During our time in Guatemala Laurie and Rick were both there. Andrea's joy and connection to her family was inspiring to witness. My heart and thoughts are with you.

~ Deborah MacLellan

This brings me sadness. Andrea was a wonderful person, a remarkable co-worker and a great engineer. She was kind, thoughtful, compassionate, giving, positive, smart, and she would laugh and giggle at all of my jokes. Life to her seemed to be about sharing and caring, and most importantly, seeing someone for who they are, and holding a space to allow them to be that. She had a wonderful smile and was beautiful in every sense of the word. I hope that Andrea's family finds solace in their memories of her, and in knowing that she was loved and admired. Andrea was that rare person and I will miss her deeply.

~ Paul S

The sight of Andrea sporting her blanket was a constant reminder that the office was always too cold. Nevertheless, she filled our part of the world with infectious laughter and sunshine. Andrea was such a great advocate for fun; if the answer about doing something was not 'sure, what day?' then it was 'what time shall we all head out?' This year was such a depressing time to be at work. Everywhere I look there are empty desks of my friends. What could I give to fill just that one empty chair again? My deepest sympathy for her family. Whenever she spoke of you, it was plain to see that she loved you so much.

~ Andrew W

I was heartbroken to hear this sad news. Andrea was a wonderful person and I will always remember her kindness and laugh. Recalling now the preparation for can-struction & various events @ Echo - she was the engine that put everything in motion. May time help you heal and bring you peace. My heart goes out to you at this difficult time.

~ Andreea F
