Angelo ‘Ange’ Colavecchia

September 3, 2020

With profound sadness, I announce that Ange passed away on September 3.

Ange was an ordinary man who did extraordinary things but he was no ordinary man to me.

Ange was Laura’s cherished husband for almost 31 years and Paul’s devoted father.

Brother of Tony (Joanne) of Thorold, brother-in-law of Megan, Michael (Jan), Cheryl (the late Terry), John and Joanne.

Ange will be missed by many nieces and nephews and their children. Ange will always be fondly remembered by his many dear friends.

Ange lived his life with passion and faced his death with courage, strength, wisdom and determination.

As we grieve that Ange has left us, we cherish what he has taught us.

Thank you to McCormick Home for their care and compassion. Shout out to Megan for her relentless support during Ange’s lengthy illness.

To honour Ange’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no funeral. Due to Covid 19, the visitation has been cancelled.

Donations may be made to: McCormick Care Foundation or the Nature Conservancy of Canada.

Dearest Laura, We were so sad to here that Ange passed away. We always looked forward to and be so glad to see you both back here in Florida. We have so many wonderful memories of dinners, our Christmas decoration street contest, our trip to the Villages and of course golf. In all the years that we knew Ange we never heard him utter anything unkind about anyone. He was a wonderful person and anyone who had the pleasure of knowing him would agree. You two were a perfect example of a happy marriage. We are going to offer a Mass for Ange at our church in his honor. Laura if you need anything at anytime please get in touch. Sending prayers and love to you. He will be missed by all. Jim & Marian 💕

Dear Laura, I just heard today of Ange's passing. Gayle and I are so sorry to hear this terrible news. I know was ill in recent years. Ange had a profound impact on my career. He taught me about decisive decision-making and how not to accept mediocrity in all walks of life. And to challenge ineptitude, although he could do it in a way that most, including those much senior to him at the time, wanted to slink away, heads down and not face Ange's pursuit to "get it right". I suspect many above and below Ange learned from him. I did. Gayle and I were so glad to connect with you too in Orvieto. It was a fun trip and we remember it to this day. Please accept our sincere condolences. Brian Moghadam & Gayle Hunter

I am just hearing about Ange's passing now in March 2021. I worked with Ange at Gulf Canada in the Products Company. Like Brian Moghadam's comments above, I learned a lot from Ange and enjoyed my time working with him. As a tribute to his standing at Gulf, I was in awe of the respect he received from others, particularly those above him. Although we did not keep in touch after I left Gulf/PetroCanada, I often thought of him. May he rest in peace.

Laura and Paul On behalf of myself and Mickie I want to express our sadness at Anges passing. Though not unexpected I know you are hurting now. Ang has been my good friend for 60 plus years. When we were teens he was known as Sonny by the Thorold gang. Ang always worked harder than the rest of us. He was an academic award winning student in high school while always holding down after school jobs. We maintained our close friendship throughout our adult lives. Enjoyed our golf games in Florida and enjoyed our talks about whatever Ange had recently read in The Economist.Although I had to fight with him to have a chance to say anything. One of my best friends ever. We will miss him a lot.

Laura, this is sad news but I was aware of the struggles in recent years. Ange was such a wonderful guy and we were fortunate as early owners in River Strand to have met you. I fondly remember our golf outings followed by delicious food. You and Ange made a terrific Baklava for our eating pleasure! You have been missed here at RS. My sympathies go out to you and hope you can lean on some wonderful memories you both shared. You were a constant amazement to me as to what your next adventure would be! A life well lived, enjoy the memories. Fondly, Lynne & Gerry
