Anne Geddes (nee Morgan)

My sincere condolences to all the Geddes family. Anne was a skilled and committed educator dedicated to both her profession and her students. Certainly among the best that I experienced. One who spoke her mind; you always knew where you stood with Anne! Kathi and I were also extremely grateful when Anne agreed to tutor our youngest son Reid some 12 years ago, and about 47 years after she taught me at Clara Brenton. Needless to say, she "whipped him into shape" very quickly, providing him with math skills that were just not coming to him through the curriculum at that time and boosting his confidence at the same time. He really enjoyed his time with her. I am sure she touched many other lives in the same way. So sad to hear of her passing. Blake Palmer

We lived across the street from Clara Brenton for years, and our five children all attended the school. Three of them had the good fortune to have Anne Geddes as a teacher. I really got to know her when I accompanied her choirs in the mid to late '70's. We practised a couple of times a week, and entered the Kiwanis Music Festival a number of years. I don't think we ever won a trophy, but there was no doubt that Anne Geddes' choirs stood the straightest, had their hands folded exactly right, and never took their eyes off her during the number. I look back on those times spent with her with great fondness.

I am very saddened to hear of the passing of one of my favorite teachers in Anne Geddes. She taught me grade 5 back in 81-82. I remember her very well as a firm but fair teacher who would push all her students to do the absolute best that we could. This makes me so sad, but on the other hand, so very thankful to have ever had the magical experience of being one of Mrs. Geddes' students...some 48 years ago. She really was extraordinary and there are so many times since that I have thought about her. That one Teacher....that one! Memories of her walking down the path at the back of the school in her "boots" with an armful of open notebooks that they had taken home to check the night before. We worked hard for her for the opportunity to work on the many Murals that lined our classroom. She inspired, she commanded our attention and we listened. Best ever memory is , top floor of Clara Brenton....Mrs. G at the far end (ravine end) with Piano and all students in the building lining the halls singing Christmas Carols. Amazing! This is that person that one never forgets. Rest in Peace, Mrs. Geddes. Never will you ever be forgotten.

How so very sad I am to learn of the loss of Mrs. Geddes. She was my art teacher and her vibrant, strong and supportive personality left a permanent mark on my heart. I have thought for years about where she might be and that I should get in touch to thank her for her lifelong influence on me. I recall her brisk determined walk, like wherever she was headed was the most important place to be, and that was either the school or home to her family. I have never forgotten her and she has been in my mind so often. And she will still be. I will never forget her. My heart goes out to her family.
