We were so blessed to have had Art as our friend. So thankful for our many chats, really got to know his life story. So happy that he is now Home with his Heavenly Father where he has long wanted to be. Wishing the family peace as you deal with the lose of your father and grandfather especially during this trying time. May the Lord bless you!
I loved my Opa very much and I will miss him terribly.
In God's hand Surrounded by loving cares, secured like a precious building, so my fragile existence is secured deep in the hollow of Your hand. You have sought my early beginnings; Your love created me; every minute, every breath I am favored by You. This happy knowing, this happiness, smashes all doubt in me; oppression, sickness, death or suffering, what can separate me from Your love? Because in the hollow of Your hand, surrounded by loving cares, secured like a precious building, You keep me safe forever!

Our prayers and condolences go out to Art's family. It is a wonderful comfort to know that Art knew the Lord and had a close relationship with his Saviour. Now, Art has gone to a place that has been prepared for him by his Redeemer. May the Lord strengthen the family during this time of loss.
My name is Wicher Kalsbeek I am one of the sons of his sister Jetje Nijenhuis-Kalsbeek. I would also like to express my condolences to my family in Canada. For me, Oome Ate was always associated with good memories. May God accompany you in your grief.
Dear family, our condolences to all of you. We have precious memories of uncle Ate, and we are grateful for all the years we have known him as our uncle. During the times he visited his relatives in the Netherlands we have had such nice conversations together, while he told us about the story of his life, with all its ups and downs. We remember his kindness and contentment, his involvement in the lives of all of us and his trust in God. It comforts you and us to know that uncle Ate is now with his Heavenly Father: the place he knew it is the best.
My condolences and sympathy to Art's family. During the time I knew him he radiated a sure confidence and trust in God that was a beautiful example and witness to us all in his church family.
Art was my 'old-uncle' as we call it in Holland; my mothers uncle. He was an extremely gentle man and we've thoroughly enjoyed his company when he visited us at times. You could discuss anything with him as he had a broad interest in subjects and the patience to listen with intent. We will remember him with much fondness. Arjan, Irene & Elaine Ommen, the Netherlands
