Peacefully at Victoria Hospital, on Tuesday, May 7th, 2013 in his 87th year. Beloved husband of the late Madeline (nee Heatherley). Loving father of Ken Cornell (Sherry), Linda Burke (Don), Jeffrey Collings (Mary), Glenda Collings and Gordon Collings (Ilijana). Cherished grandfather of Rick Burke (Kim), Don Cornell, Erin Fleck, Alex Fleck, Sarah Burke, Betty Span (Andrew), Ivan Morrison (Concetta), Amy Baker (Marco) and great-grandfather of Gavin, Mary-Beth, Leaslie, Austen, William, Massimo and Anthony. Dear brother of Robert. Art was a conductor for 36 years with the Canadian Pacific Railway. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. In keeping with Art’s wishes, there will be a private family memorial service. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a donation are asked to consider the Alzheimer Society. A heartfelt thank you to the staff at Dearness Home and Victoria Hospital for their care and compassion.

I was saddened to learn of Art's passing. I have thought of him often over the years. I met Art when I started on the CPR in 1973. Shortly after I hired on, I ended up a Woodstock and spent the first 6 months of my career working in Art's crew. At first I thought he was tough on me, but eventually I realized that he was teaching me how to be a railroader. I had a few other opportunities to work with Art in the East Pool before he retired. By this time he treated me as an equal, rather than a rookie. I eventually worked for 37 years on the railway, and I am now retired. I learned how to railroad from Art. He expected his crew to work properly and that method of working made an impression on me. I was the type of railroader that I could be proud of, and for that I thank Art very much. You in his in family have every right to be proud of your father. Please accept my condolences on your loss.
