Barbara “Barb” Logan

October 20, 2025

On Monday, October 20, 2025, after a brief ailment at the age of 83, Barbara Logan passed peacefully in the arms of her family. Barb is now reunited with her beloved husband of 50 years, Melvyn Logan, and parents Elden Borden McLellan and Jessie May McLellan. In addition to her brother Borden McLellan (Barbara McLellan), she leaves behind her 2 daughters Leanne Logan (Alan Johnson) and Heidi Logan (Larry McAuley); 5 grandchildren Kristen McAuley, Kourtnee Brooks, Catlen McAuley, Alexander Johnson and Jacob Johnson along with her 5 great-granddaughters Paiten Ward, Koree-Lynn Leveille, Jysella Brooks, Emmerson Johnson and Riven Johnson and close family friends Joanne Lambert and Tim Burke.

Barbara grew up in rural Nova Scotia and attended college at Mount Allison University, where she met and married Melvyn Logan. Together they settled in London, Ontario, where they began to raise their family and Barb landed her first teaching job. Her home economics training demonstrated her remarkable gift for making all people feel cared for and valued. She valued her family near and far, and devoted her energy to offering great love and support for her daughters Leanne and Heidi and husband Mel.

Barb had what was known as “the travel bug” and she followed it wherever it led. Together, Barb and Mel travelled widely through Europe, the Caribbean and North America, visiting all 50 States and 10 Provinces at least once. Barb’s special places were woven into the fabric of her life and each one filled with friendships, laughter and love. Some of her special places include 50 years of enjoying summers at the family cottage in Port Stanley; Tucson AZ, where she and her RV friends shared countless outings, such as birding and desert sunsets; Memphis, Tennessee, visiting with Leanne and AJ, sharing in fun, adventure-filled times with family; Nova Scotia, where she visited Heidi and Larry and found time to take in the ocean. Barb often reminisced about her early life visiting Economy and living near Truro, NS where she grew up.

In keeping with Barbara’s wishes, funeral arrangements have been entrusted with Westview Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, 709 Wonderland Road North, London. Cremation has taken place and her ashes will be scattered in all of her special places with her husband. A Celebration of Life will take place at a future date to be announced. If desired, please consider making a donation to either of the two charities Barb kept close to her heart, the Arthritis Society Canada and Habitat for Humanity in memory of Barb.

Dear Logan Family, I send condolences as you grieve that Barb’s life has ended. I was her Dental Hygienist for many years in London. Barb and I shared great conversations about our shared Nova Scotian heritage. I remember when the lighthouse was a favourite destination for your family. I grew up on the other side of the bay in Hants County. I remember Barb and Mel with great fondness. I wish blessings on all who love Barb. Sincerely, Dawn

It's with a heavy heart I send Leanne and Heidi, Borden and Barbie, families and friends my deepest and most heartfelt condolences on the passing of my favourite cousin, Barbara. I was so happy to have she and the girls visit me at the Tower, when we climbed out onto the top and reminisced about our childhood in and around that special place on the banks of The Minas Basin/Cobequid Bay, that special place that has always been very dear to our hearts and has given us life changing memories. I know Barb touched many hearts along her road of life and many folks, far and wide will be saddened to hear of her passing, but just remember all the fun and laughter and good times you had and how she touched us in her many ways. Rest in Peace my dearest cousin and friend. Until we meet again.

Leanne and Heidi, as you know, you had a very caring, compassionate mother. She was a very thoughtful, kind soul who cared for her neighbours and friends. I will miss Barb gardening across from me. She was always cheerful and ready for a chat. Condolences to you, your families and friends.

So sorry for your loss, Leanne and Heidi. Barb was a great friend to her next door neighbor Nancy, who both checked in and cared for each other over the years on "the Lane". She will be dearly missed. Much love and hugs from Nancy, Tracey and Christine.
