Barbara/Barb/Barbie/Mum/Nana never missed a chance to dance. She was a force right to the very end, living each day with grace, independence, dignity and humour. Complications from a bad fall led to a short stay in the ICU at University Hospital, London. Barbara died on Saturday, May 23, 2026. She was brave and determined in her final days.
Cherished wife of the late Tom Wood for 57 years. Born to Cecil and Margaret Hickson on January 26, 1940.
Children Steven (Julie), Fraser and Linda (Gerald) were with Barb during her last three days advocating for her and providing her, and each other, comfort.
Her eight grandchildren Cameron (Kendra) and James; Colin, Kelsey, Tommy and Gracen; Amanda (Cameron) and Lindsay each had loving relationships with Nana. She had set aside mementos of each grandchild to take with her on her next journey.
Loved and treasured by Tom’s large family, her many friends, nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 28, 2026, from 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., in addition to a celebration for family and friends on Friday, May 29, 2026, beginning with speeches at 11:00 a.m. at Westview Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, 709 Wonderland Road North, London. Memorial donations to a charity of your choice would be appreciated.

Sorry to hear of your mom's passing. She was such a beautiful vibrant lady. Although I have seen little of Barb since her move to London, she still was a part of my life. She will be missed by all. My condolences to the family.
Remembering the wonderful times with Barb starting on Haygate cres. In the 1960’s Mississauga playing bridge ,cross country skiing ,celebrating birthdays ,trip to cottage's , morning coffee times at each others homes. Barb always smiling and laughing. Blessings hugs to all her children and families. Forever missed and remembered with my many photos smiles !
