Betty Anne Laur

January 21, 2013

                                                       March 15, 1943 – January 21, 2013

Peacefully at home, surrounded by family, Betty lost her courageous battle with cancer at the age of 69.  Beloved wife of Grant Cadotte.  Predeceased by husband Steve Laur.  Loving mother of Michael and Stephanie (Jim).  Proud Grandmother of Lindsay, Emily, Alyssa and Cassandra.  Daughter of Marguerite Thornton and predeceased by father Thomas Thornton.  Loved and celebrated by many longtime friends and family, and co-workers from the Ivey Eye Institute.  Friends and relatives are invited to join us to celebrate Betty’s “spirited” life, and share memories and friendship, and raise a glass in her honour.  Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 3:00 – 5:00 and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. at the WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, where the memorial service will be conducted on Thursday, January 24, 2013 at 11:00 a.m.  In lieu of flowers, any donations to support the amazing staff at CCAC and VON will be appreciated.

Our sincere condolences on the loss of Betty-Ann. She was always so full of life, so welcoming, and her family was her life. She always spoke of her children and grand children with such pride in her eyes. She brought much joy to those around her and this included my father Grant. Betty was a friend to all those around her and her loss will be felt by many. No one can tell how much time we have here on earth but Betty-Ann didn't waste one day of the time God gave her. Rest in peace Betty-Ann.... Tim, Melanie, and daughter Madison

I was very sad to hear of Betty leaving this world. Seems so strange to comprehend it. I've known Betty for about 30 years in a work environment off and on. I was always struck by her love for her family. She couldn't talk enough about them. When she talked about her excitment knowing her grand children were coming over or taking them on trips, my heart was struck with admiration. I didn't really understand it then, but having a grand daughter now myself, I get it now Betty. You'll be missed, but you've left your mark my friend.

~ Cathy Mercer
