So very sorry to learn of this lovely lady's passing. She was petite in stature but a force to be reckoned with. I recall back in 1976 when Carmela was interested in buying a set of pots and pans for her soon-to-be-married daughter, Josephine, and had a salesman come to the house. For some reason I was there, though I had no imminent prospects to be married. To make a long story short, Carmela purchased 3 sets of the pots and pans, one for each of her daughters, and I ended up buying a set too, never being one to pass up a good deal. The pots and pans came with a set of dishes. The salesman "threw in" 3 complimentary tea pots for Carmela's large purchase. Carmela looked at him, smiled sweetly, and asked, "What about HER tea pot?", indicating me. The salesman said that wasn't part of my purchase. Carmela smiled at him again and said, "If she doesn't get a tea pot, I'm not buying anything." No need to wonder who won that fight. Rest in peace, Mrs. Manganaro.
