Carol Blanche Windsor (née Laughlin)

June 8, 2022

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Carol, of London, Ontario, on Wednesday, June 8, 2022 at McCormick Home, in her 94th year. Born to Dorothy and James Edward Laughlin on July 29, 1928, in Toronto. Predeceased by her loving husband, George B. Windsor, on October 26, 2012. Carol is survived by her daughters whom she loved dearly: Janet Windsor of London, Diane Pascoe (Eric) of North Carolina, Wendy Windsor (Robert Durkee) of Vermont, and Elaine Steele (Rob Woods) of London. Also survived by six grandchildren: Jessica Steele (Dave), Kevin Steele (Erin), Keilan McInnis (Jesstine), Braden Pascoe (Taylor), Meredith Durkee, and Stephen Durkee (Amanda); and three great-grandchildren. Beloved sister of David (Carol Ann) and the late Kenneth Laughlin (Margaret).

Carol honed her creative abilities early, starting with piano at a young age, and becoming a talented cheerleader and dancer in high school. Further to her creativity, she sewed beautiful clothes for all her daughters and knit sweaters for the whole family, and helped her daughters many times with school projects during their school years. Carol worked at CPRI for many years, and in that time earned a Child Care Worker diploma. She was an avid reader, shopper extraordinaire, excellent cook and bridge player, and even started playing tennis in her sixties. A visit to Port Stanley to see the lake, blue skies and trees, or seeing the squirrels, birds and deer who lived behind her home on the edge of the Thames River, all brought her immense joy. Carol was a winter resident of Florida for over twenty years. She thoroughly enjoyed her friendships made along the way with many people both in London and Toronto. Even in her nineties, she had a wonderful sense of humour and a sharp wit which she used to entertain her family and staff at McCormick Home. Carol will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved her.

A private Celebration of Life with family members will be held at a future date.

To Carol's family: I got to know her as she was across the hall from my Dad at McCormick. She had a great sense of humour and told me all about her daughters. it was comforting to get to know some of Dad's 'friends' there. We are thinking of you - The Smith Family.

Our sympathy to Carol & George’s family. They were great neighbours to our parents ,Nellie & Elmer Long & to us as well. Loved to be a recipient of any of Carol’s desserts when there was just too much for them to eat . Fondly , Larry & Catherine Morrison
