Constance Winnifred Vanderland (née Bristow)

March 13, 2019

It is with love and sadness that we celebrate the life and legacy of Constance Winnifred Vanderland (née Bristow), who passed away peacefully and with dignity on Wednesday, March 13, 2019, in London, Ontario. Connie will be dearly missed by Bill, her loving husband of 70 years. Much loved mother of Bill (and the late Susan Scott), Bob (Margo), Brenda Morgan (Paul) and Barbara Cooper (Paul). Cherished grandmother of Neil (Leigh), Michelle and Cheryl (Dylan); Leah (Kyle), Nick (Denise) and Mike; and Chris (Jessica), David (Susan) and Steven (Kathryn). Treasured great-grandmother of Chayse, Jaxson and Willow; Cameron and Stuart; Colin, Liam and Wesley; Matthew, Hailey and Caitlyn; and Caleb. Survived by her brother Bob (Pat), along with several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Frank and Lavinia (Win), her brothers Bill, Stan, Frank, Les and Jack and her sister Gladys “Sally”. Born in London, Ontario on August 5, 1926, Connie caught the eye of her life-long partner while working at Kellogg’s. After getting married, Bill and Connie made their home in the Montreal, Winnipeg and Toronto areas. They moved to Whitby, Ontario to enjoy their retirement years. Devoted to her family, Connie was a homemaker extraordinaire. There wasn’t anything that she couldn’t make, grow or repair. She kept Bill and their children in line, a task often easier said than done! A strong and principled woman, Connie instilled the importance of hard work and commitment to her daughters and sons. After raising her family, Connie went on to a successful career at Laura Secord. The arrival of each grandchild and great-grandchild brought Connie immense joy. Connie will be missed but leaves an amazing legacy behind. A special ‘thank you’ to paramedics Dan and Steph, and the staff of the Emergency Department and Palliative Care Unit, Victoria Hospital, London, Ontario for their kindness and compassion. A visitation will be held on Monday from 7:00 ~ 9:00 p.m. at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, where a funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a donation in memory of Connie are asked to consider the Alzheimer Society London and Middlesex or Diabetes Canada.

Dearest Brenda, Paul and Family, While I never had the good pleasure to meet your Mom in person I felt like I knew her well. The myriad stories told over the years about your lovely parents endeared them to me. It sounds so cliche but hold on to those memories and bring out those photos and revel in sharing and retelling your mom's life - a life well lived. Sending virtual hugs, Jo and the Beyers Clan
