Our shining star died on Thursday, July 8, 2021, in a tragic car accident that happened in the blink of an eye. Courtney was born on January 9, 1982, to her loving parents, Bill and Cathy Ovens. She was the sister and best friend of Wesley, and favourite granddaughter of Marion Scholer. Courtney is also survived by her soulmate, Bevin Henning; sister-in-law, Emily Lucyshyn; and nephew, Noah. Courtney had an effervescent personality and a pure heart. She cultivated many meaningful friendships during her life and will be sorely missed as an advocate to her friends. Always an animal lover at heart, she extended her kindness to several rescued cats over the years. Puppy “Izzy” will miss her playdates and walks in the woods exploring. Courtney will be fondly remembered for her ability to always reach out with love and support and to keep family bonds strong. She was and will always be loved unconditionally by her family. We feel so blessed to have had her for 39 years. Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 17, 2021 from 1:00 – 2:45 p.m., at Westview Funeral Chapel, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, where a funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Cremation to follow. Registration is required to attend the visitation and the service. The family also welcomes friends and family who are unable to attend, to participate in the service via livestream.

I had the privilege of knowing her both as a colleague and as a dear friend and she will be missed deeply by those who both knew her well and those brief lives she touched passing through. She was a sweet and kind individual , always deep in thought about the world and who even if she went through her own struggles was always there for another. Courtney and I were very close through high school. This news is just devastating. To her family Bill, Cathy, and Wes I am so sorry for your loss. Courtney and i worked at canusa together although we didnt work long together we became really good friends really fast she always put others above herself and always knew how to lift people up when they were feeling down. She was definitely someone I went to when I wasn't having a good day she always made me laugh and smile. Courtney is loved by so many and will be missed so much. Although I sadly didn't get the chance to be friends with Courtney for very long I am soo sorry to hear of her passing. Courtney is a kind of person I come across very rarely in life. So kind, caring, outgoing and loving to all she came across. She brightened everyone's day with her contagious smile and happy go lucky personality.
