Dear Wanda, Mark, Jeffrey and Adam, it’s taken a few days to begin to digest this sad, sad news of David’s passing, but in that time, through memories, smiles and giggles have slipped in to help ease that sense of loss. For whatever wonderful stars aligned that enabled our lives to intersect in that crazy apartment building in Kingston so very long ago, we will be forever grateful; our lives have been everlastingly enriched by knowing and loving David. We hope that you can feel the love we send your way.

My very deepest sympathies, Dave was a wonderful man, and I will miss him dearly.

Dear Wanda and family. I was shocked to learn of Dave's passing. I saw it through Ross Klopp's email to Bruce Beachers. Dave and I first met back in 1966 at Bruce Beach and we were in contact for many years before we went our separate ways. He was a wonderful caring person and I can only imagine what a wonderful husband and father and grandfather he would be. Memories are yours to cherish forever... Thinking of you during this very difficult time. Susan Neely

Dear Wanda and the boys. We are so saddened at the news of Dave's passing. Dave was my manager back when I first started my career. I have so many wonderful memories of working with Dave. He was an excellent mentor and a true friend. I learned so much from David and his approach to work, leadership and life. His wonderful sense of humour kept me laughing and his work ethic and understanding of people helped me so much with my career. I was so lucky to have met him so early in my career. I was also very lucky to have been able to call him my friend. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Ron and Joanne

Wanda and Family, I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I had the pleasure of working with David at Searle many years ago and have very fond memories of a great guy who did a super job for our company. We both moved along over the years but fortunately I was able to reconnect with him not long ago at a pharmacy in Guelph. We exchange war stories, laughed a lot and promised to keep in touch. I can't forget our chance meeting, since my friends who owned the pharmacy where we met made a point of telling me he was a great guy a special "preferred supplier" and someone they'd go out of their way to do business with in the future. In the highly competitive world of pharmaceuticals that was a rare and very special complement. Please accept my sincere condolences. John

Although we drifted apart in our adult years, I will never forget the years that we spent at Thames Valley Golf Club working for the Moffats. I was pleased to see Dave a couple of years ago but unfortunately, it was at John Moffat Jr.'s funeral. Our days and nights at the Valley resulted in Dave obtaining the nickname of "The Puma". I can't remember why but the name stuck. So another member (rhythm guitarist) of our group "The Henchmen" has joined the band above. He was a great and enthusiastic guy whom I will never forget. My condolences to Wanda and family.Stay strong.

~ Peter Boyce

Truly a great man! A man that we all looked up to and respected. Made us feel apart of the family especially during our yearly visits to the cottage in our twenties. I picture you driving thru Heavens Gates in a new Volvo with the windows down, blaring The Rolling Stones. Rest in Peace Mr. Oatman. You will be missed by all of us. My deepest condolences go out to Jeff and the entire Oatman family. Let the thoughts of laughter and good times, help you thru these tough moments. Callum McCreadie

Dear Wanda, Both Barb and I send our deepest condolances on Dave's passing. It was our priviledge to get to know and spend time with you and Dave on the last 2 Torchbearer trips. For me Dave will always be the epitomy of a leader in everything he did. I was honored to call him a friend as well as a business associate. We will never forget him and sorely miss him.

I knew Dave for many years as he called on my pharmacy on a very regular basis. We chatted not only about business, but philosophy of life and family. I never met Wanda or their children, but was aware of how much Dave loved them all. I consider him to be " a real straight shooter", in other words a man of great integrity. I will miss him. Dear Wanda and family, It's with great sadness that I heard of Dave's passing. Although we saw little of each other over the years our friendship during our early years in London remain precious for me. Dave has and will always be able to make me smile when recalling our history at the Thames Valley Golf Club. I consider it a great privilege to have shared a friendship. He will be missed but never forgotten. Rest in Peace my friend. Roy

Dave was truly one of a kind and a legend in the pharmaceutical industry. He had very firm ideas about right and wrong, possessed an incredible work ethic and built strong, lasting relationships with Doctors and Pharmacists all across Ontario and Atlantic Canada. Most of all, he was a devoted husband to his gal, Wanda and a loving dad to his boys, Mark, Jeff and Adam and their families. I am honoured to have called him friend. RIP Dave. Tom Potter

I knew David as a trusted competitor for almost 15 years. Although I knew little about his personal or family life,I got to know the man over many a coffee and lengthy discussions about the state of the industry.. We shared the same dedication to sales and service and he was one of the best. I will miss his prescence as a competitor and as a friend. Rest in Peace., David......JohnO'

Everyone who had worked with or for Dave, became a better person and raised the game professionally, always missed but never forgotten, I am proud to call him my friend!

I had the privilege of working with Dave in the 80's at Searle Canada in Oakville, He was very helpful to me as I did not have a pharmaceutical background. I also have fond memories of our trips to Bermuda one in particular when we rented a large sailboat and Dave was insistent to follow me into the water with snorkel equipment doing a back roll even though it was his first time. He almost drown! I also fully understand what Dave has gone through because I have been battling Cancer for the last four years and I am being treated out of London as well. Sincere condolences to Wanda and the entire family. Kerry Wasserman

My heart is with you, Wanda and family. I have so many memories of your family when you and I were 'neighbours' in Dartmouth. Dear friend, I know that the strength and support you need will come from those who surround you. Know that my thoughts and prayers are with you.

To Wanda and the children. I was very saddened to hear about the passing of Dave. There are few people in my life who with just the mere mention of their name make me smile. Dave was and always will be one of those people. Dave was my sales manager at Searle, and he taught me more than I can express here. He had the uncommon balance of kindness directness and caring, that i will always treasure. Every time I spent a day with Dave I ended that day as a smarter man, though I suspect Dave only felt exhausted. The world is separated by givers and takers, and Dave was one of the great givers and I will continue to smile whenever I think of him. My Condolences to Wanda and the kids during this painful time. Wanda and Family, Your loss is our loss. The memories span 45 plus years and they are rich, from the fun loving, crazy times of our 20's, to the family time of our 30's and onward, to the empty nest years and re connecting with each other, to the 50 -60's of friendship and support, to now saying goodbye. The friendship was special and the laughs are cherished, the memories...priceless. Dave was a good man and a great friend. I will always remember both of your optimism and great love for each other. Love, Wendy
