Dawn Marie Adams Burridge

May 12, 1970 - September 7, 2023

Death leaves a heartache no one can heal; love leaves a memory no one can steal

—from a headstone in Ireland

It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of Dawn Marie Adams Burridge on Thursday, September 7, 2023. She passed peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones. Dawn was born in London, Ontario on May 12, 1970. Her path in life was dedicated to community service. Above all else, she treasured her children.

Dawn was raised by loving Irish parents and had a close Irish family. She is remembered as the smart, energetic, athletic and spunky young women who worked incredibly hard to achieve her goals and support her family. She was a loyal and loving wife, mother, sister and friend whose sense of humour and laughter could fill a room. The sound of her voice will never be forgotten.

After completing her education at the University of British Columbia, she returned to London, Ontario to be closer to her family, and in particular, her brother’s family. She could not fathom the thought of being that far from her nephews and nieces. Returning to London also lead to her finding her life partner, Richard “Rick” Burridge, who she married on March 4, 2002. Shortly thereafter, they were blessed with three beautiful children, Chloe, Meghan and Bryce. Nothing gave Dawn more pride or happiness than the faces and experiences of her beautiful children. She was an incredible mother.

Dawn’s life of service was exemplified by her work with Community Living London followed by years of service as the Manager of Adult Day Programs for the County of Elgin. She found fulfillment, purpose and direction through helping others and so many in the community have benefitted from her commitment to her clients. In her final days, a number of her care providers who had worked with her over the years had the opportunity to return kindness and compassion to Dawn and her loved ones.

She is loved and deeply missed by her husband, Rick and their three children, Chloe, Meghan and Bryce; father, Mark Adams (Patricia (Anne) Adams, deceased); brother Marshal (Deyan); mother-in-law, Diane Burridge (Richard Burridge, deceased); sister-in-law, Jody Rodney (Byron Rodney, deceased); brother-inlaw, Jason (Katherine); nephews and nieces, Matthew, Joshua, Faith and Jewel Adams, Isaiah and Jayden Rodney, Lauren and Blake Burridge; her many aunts, uncles and cousins; and her dear friends, Jen and Nancy. Dawn had a special and loving relationship with Granny, Elsie Cake, who is a constant source of joy for the family.

A private interment will be held on Thursday, September 14, 2023, followed by a celebration of life at Green Hills Golf Course (4838 Colonel Talbot Rd, London, ON) from 3:30 – 6:30 p.m., where all will be welcome and received.

A very special thank you to the nurses, personal support workers, doctors and staff at St Joseph’s Hospice for their dedication and care of Dawn. Their kindness and compassion will never be forgotten.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in memory of Dawn to St Joseph’s Hospice of London.

Sending our heartfelt sympathies and support after this most significant loss. We echo the wonderful tributes to Dawn as a Mom and caring person. We once talked about starting university at the same time , in the same program, but our paths having never crossed because of her transfer to UBC. Other times we spoke, giggled, and strategized about the challenges of parenting. They were meaningful and thoughtful conversations, and I so appreciated her perspective and humour. Grace is so very sad for Meg...
