Dennis William Mainstone

October 15, 2020

Passed peacefully on Thursday, October 15, 2020, in his 93rd year. Devoted husband of his late wife Annette (2017) and loving father of Warren, Pam Matheson (Sterling) and Wendy Wallace (Jim). Proud grandfather of Steve Mainstone (Renee), Rob Mainstone (Niki), Traci Mainstone, Trisha Matheson (Jay), Cindy Matheson (Brad), Quincy Wallace (Mackenzie), Georganne Wallace and Austin Wallace. Great-grandfather of Guerin, Ashlyn, Robyn, Lauryn, Ava, Shayla, Katherine, Magi and Riley. Dennis worked at GM Diesel as an inspector and retired after 32 years. He loved to cheer for the Toronto Maple Leafs and Toronto Blue Jays, and was a loyal season ticket holder for over 65 years for the London Knights. Anyone who knew our Dad knew fishing was his passion, which was lovingly passed down to his family. Camping and fishing on Manitoulin Island was an annual family tradition for many years. Our family cannot thank the staff of Westmount Gardens enough for the excellent care they provided to Dennis over the time he lived there. Due to COVID restrictions, a private family service will be conducted with interment at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Dennis are asked to consider Westmount Gardens – Residents’ Council or the Alzheimer Society London and Middlesex.

Our sympathies, LOVE and HUGS are sent to the entire family of Dennis. We had the pleasure of knowing Dennis for many years as their family camped at Stanley Park in sites 1 & 2 next to where we lived for 31 years. We always enjoyed their time with us out on the lake fishing, chatting over the fence, and going out to dinners especially at Garden's Gate where we savoured many a fine meal, lots of laughs and good times. Dennis introduced me to an original 'fish handshake' which we would embrace in each summer they arrived. Our own children loved and respected the Mainstone's and their family members. Dennis will be truly missed. It was GREAT knowing him and his lovely wife Annette. RIP

It was a pleasure knowing Annette and Dennis. Dennis and I spoke at great length about all things sports. Annette's time with the exercise class at Parkwood introduced me to two lovely people. My condolences from the staff, volunteers and participants of the PMP.
