Doris Eilene McCarthy

August 10, 2016

It is with mixed emotions that we announce the passing of Doris Eilene (McLeod) McCarthy in her 94th year on Wednesday, August 10th, 2016. Doris is now reunited with her late husband, Len J. McCarthy (1991). Celebrating her longevity, yet missing her happy, loving presence are; her son Kevin and Luanne McCarthy, daughter Kathy and Ken Yeo and their children and grandchildren; Michael and Karen Yeo – Emerson and Kenley; Karry and Peter Tischler – Quinn and Kody; Christopher and Shelby Yeo – Alana and Vivian; Jason and Alison Yeo – Britton, Tyler and Nathan. Sister to Wilma Jean Robinson, Donald McLeod and predeceased by Mildred Small, Merton, Carman and Murray McLeod and sister-in-law to Geraldine and Helen McLeod. Daughter of the late Mary and William McLeod of Kincardine. Doris loved to dance all her life, from the Highland Fling as a young girl to twirling around the dance floor on any occasion. Len and Doris are dancing on the clouds together now. Her family was Doris’ life focus. Family came first – always. Honouring Doris’ wishes, a private family service will be held at Westview Funeral Chapel. Donations in Doris’ memory to the McCormick Home would be greatly appreciated.

Dear Kevin, Kathy and Families, Doris was a very sweet lady and you will all miss her very much. She was a lovely next door neighbour while I was growing up on Brant Street. We had a standing joke. As I got older, she would always ask me to call her Doris but I just couldn't break the habit of calling her Mrs. McCarthy after so many years. She said it made her feel old. We'd have a laugh every time. You were lucky to have such a wonderful woman in your lives for so long but it's hard to say goodbye to your Mom. Take Care, Patricia

My deepest sympathy to Kevin and Luanne, Kathy and Ken, and all of your family. Doris and I shared a wonderful friendship for so many years. She was truly a lovely lady and I feel so lucky to have known her. We had many good times together and I know how much she loved you all. So sorry to hear of your loss. I will remember Mrs McCarthy very fondly. She was quite a marvel keeping so active, a true inspiration. I will be thinking of her when I go the Western Fair as I pass the fudge counter! Thinking of you all at this very sad time. (Jo)

My deepest sympathies to everyone for your loss. It is a very special thing to be able to live as long as she did and spend so much time with everyone, watching everyone grow and start their own families. A truly wonderful person, it's great to know that she was able to live such a full life. My thoughts are with you all. - Mike

Kevin and Luanne, Kathy and Ken and family: We were so sorry to hear of your Mother's passing. She was quite the women! Life was not always easy ,but she never let that take the smile from her face. I believe she is now at peace, and hopefully the memories she gave us all, will be held close to our hearts at this time of grief. "For He shall give His angels charge over you, to Keep you in all ways. " Psalm 91:11 Richard and Heather Greenfield

Sincere sympathy to Kevin, Luanne and family at this time.
