Passed away peacefully after a short battle with cancer on Friday, January 29, 2016 in his 71st year. Lovingly remembered by his daughter, Deborah-Ann Polec of Los Angeles, California. Sadly missed by his sister Winona “Nonnie” Hoffinger of Portland, Oregon; his brother Gary Polec of Winnipeg, Manitoba; his best friend Francoise of London; and his nieces and nephew: Glenn, Lori, Sheri and Cathy. Doug was a caring, gentle and dedicated man who appreciated his family, friends and his former co-workers at 3M Canada. He had a passion for golf and will be fondly remembered by his golf buddies. A memorial reception to celebrate Doug’s life will be held at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, on Friday, February 5th, 2016 from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. with Words of Remembrance at 11:30 a.m. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Doug are asked to consider the London Regional Cancer Program.

As above, it has truly been decades *, since we worked together at 3M in Ottawa. When I started, I was the young guy with tons of energy. Doug always had a smile, a kind word, and (when necessary) a suggested better approach to resolving a problem. * I was 19 when I started at 3M (in the parts department) and my 65th birthday is this month! (Louise and I got engaged then married while I was with 3M.) We've all worn-out bits and strained this or that as we've traveled this long dusty road: Doug will be missed by all who came to know him. Over the years we had some laughs on the golf course. We enjoyed our nights of playing Bridge with Francoise and Doug. Our condolences on your loss.
