Following a lengthy illness, the family of Douglas Del Net sadly announces his passing at Parkwood Institute, London on Sunday, December 3rd, 2017. Dearly loved husband of Barbara. Loving father of David Del Net (Gabriella Maniago), Lisa McEwen, and step-father of Tim MacNaught (Lynn). Proud grandpa of Kane and Quinn McEwen, and Zak MacNaught, all of London. He was the last of his family. Predeceased by four sisters: Velia Edissi (Dante), Clara “Corinne” Ermacora (Pete), Armida Morgan (William), Berta “Betty” Paul (David), and one brother, Glen Del Net. His parents, Basilio and Italia Del Net immigrated to Canada through Ellis Island along with his four sisters. Douglas and Glen were born in Kitchener. He attended St. Jerome’s College. He is survived by sister-in-law, Marcie Woolley and brother-in-law, Ed Orchard (Maryann McCoy) of St. Thomas, Ontario. He will be sadly missed by several nieces and nephews. He has been in business (Centura London) for over 50 years with branches in Windsor, Calgary and Edmonton. We will all have cherished memories of our yearly family holidays together. He enjoyed his golf, but in the last few years was unable to play because of poor health. Douglas was a member of RiverBend Golf Club. He was an ardent reader and enjoyed fine wine. Being a kind and generous man, he gave unconditionally to family, friends, and the community, privately and without fanfare. Cremation has taken place with a private family interment at Woodland Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held at the Best Western Lamplighter Inn, 591 Wellington Road South, on Sunday, January 14, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a donation in memory of Doug are asked to consider Doug’s favourite charities: St. Joseph’s Health Care Foundation – Parkwood Institute or the Children’s Health Foundation.

Dear Barb and family. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this very sad time. What a wonderful man we have all lost. He will be missed by all.
I'm a small fish in a giant pond, yet when I stopped by the London branch, Doug would call me into his office and honour me with his smile, his words and an some good hearted ribbing. I will miss his clarity and wisdom. Such a kind and gentle man, yet anyone who knew him would follow him no matter what charge he was leading. What a loss for his family, his friends, his customers, for all of us.
Dear Barb and Family: We are so sad to hear of Doug's passing. Doug was always such an UP person, calm and a sage in many ways. We'll miss Doug; the fun times and fond memories will always be with us.
We knew Doug and Barbara for over 20 years . They were like family to us. Doug was one of the most generous people we have ever known. We loved them dearly and Doug will be missed by all who knew him.
Dear Barbara: You are in our hearts & prayers at this very sad time in your life. We hope that happy times & wonderful memories will help you throughout the days & months. We will remember Doug as a wonderful, caring, & true gentleman with a terrific sense of humour. His passing will be a loss for everyone who knew him but it will also be an honor that we all had the privilege of knowing him.
I don't think that I have ever met a nicer man. I always said that if you looked up the meaning of a "perfect gentleman" there would be a picture of Doug Del Net...
Dear Barb: David and I were deeply saddened to hear of Doug's passing. We are so sorry for your loss. He was a wonderful neighbour for fifteen years and we will miss him. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this sad time.
The best couple, the ultimate gentleman. Doug was the first to welcome us to RiverBend and invite us to see his home as we were building the same model. He never got rid of us after that. We have had many FUN games of Euchre over the years. He great a great witt and loved Barb's cooking. Barb our heart is heavy and sad for the great loss

Barb words cannot describe our sorrow with the loss of Doug. Doug was a friend, a mentor and employer to me for over 47 years. He will be missed by so many people. Please know that Mary Jane and I feel the pain that his loss has caused. God bless you Doug and safe journey to your next challenge.

I have known Barb since we were kids in public school and sadly only met Doug at our STCI reunion in St, Thomas. Condolences to the family
Although we have had the pleasure of meeting Doug and Barb only a few times, we were greatly impressed with what a wonderful,caring person(s) they both were. Selfless and a great person to work for (with) was what we heard constantly. There are not enough people like Doug left in this world. We truly know he was greatly loved and admired and will be missed.

Barb, Phyllis & I were so very sorry to hear of Doug's death. We knew he had been ill but continued to hope he was doing well. He was such a kind, gentle man who always greeted us so warmly. We knew of his business success & how much his employees thought of him thru Graeme & Mary Heselton's comments. We were just talking about how much we missed the "old" COCC crowd & the fun we all shared. May the love & memories you hold always sustain you and bring you comfort.
