Dr. Bhadresh Surti

August 27, 2025

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the unexpected and peaceful passing of Dr. Bhadreshchandra Surti. Accomplished psychiatrist and Professor Emeritus, a beloved member of the London community, Bhadresh passed away on August 27, 2025, at the age of 75. Loving husband to Varsha for 49 years, beloved father to Meera (Simon) and Mishaal, and proud grandfather to Devan and Dillan. Dear brother of Bhupendrabhai, the late Rasilaben, the late Dhansukhlal, Hasmuklal, and loving uncle to his many nieces and nephews.

Born in Jhagadya, Gujarat, Bhadresh immigrated to Canada in 1976 with the goal of building a new life for himself and his extended family, with a commitment to helping and healing others. Completing psychiatry residency at the University of Ottawa and fellowship at Dalhousie University, he devoted over 35 years as a physician supporting London, Woodstock, St. Thomas, as well as underserved communities in Northern Ontario. Committed to supporting future medical professionals, his passion for teaching led to his roles as Assistant Professor and Professor Emeritus at the University of Western Ontario.

Bhadresh was an adventurous and active individual, his love for the outdoors driving his passion for golfing, biking, skiing, swimming, fishing and travel. With his optimistic outlook on life, he was a positive spirit and always embraced a challenge.

A courageous battle with Alzheimer’s ensued, yet his infectious smile and joy of Bollywood music and film remained, along with his love for delicious food. We would like to share our deep appreciation to the caring staff of the Mount Hope Centre for Long Term Care, the Alzheimer Society Southwest Partners, and the McCormick Dementia Services, who have been invaluable supports.

His legacy will be marked by his children, his grandchildren, and all those influenced by his sense of adventure, his passion for life, and his service to others.

The visitation service and prayer ceremony will be held on Sunday, August 31, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at Westview Funeral Home, 709 Wonderland Road North, London.

The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 2, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Westview Funeral Home. Following the funeral service, family and close friends are invited to attend the interment at Woodland Cemetery, Mausoleum and Crematorium, 493 Springbank Drive, London.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. Joseph’s Health Care Foundation – Mount Hope Centre for Long Term Care, Alzheimer Society Southwest Partners, or the Hindu Cultural Centre.

~ Vranda Kamath

Varshakaki , Meera, Mishal, we are absolutely devastated. Bhadreshkaka was the reason we are here today. Kaka gave us everything and we will forever be grateful for his love, especially when we first arrived and when Tapasya was born in your home. We are thinking of you and are here for you. Some of our most precious memories are from those early days in your home. You both took us in and treated us like your own. From caring for a pregnant Darshana to welcoming our little Tapasya into the world in that very house—these are moments etched in our hearts forever. His love created a safe harbor for our growing family. We will miss him more than words can express. We are sending you all our strength and love. Aum Shanti Bhagwan departed soul ne shanti appe Jai Shree Krishna 🙏 Dharmesh, Darshana , Tapasya , Tirth

Dr Surti and I worked together on the inpatient unit for a number of years, sometimes 5 days a week. You get to know someone well spending that much time together. I have many fond memories of working with Dr Surti but the one that stands out the most is a conversation we had about mutually respecting each others practice. That is a rarity! Rest peacefully Dr Surti
