E. Elaine Bitz
October 12, 2017
Peacefully, with her family by her side, and with the grace that she had lived her life, Elaine slipped away on Thursday, October 12th, 2017. Memories of her smile, her optimism for Every Day, and her unwavering love will be cherished by her daughter Doris and “favourite” son-in-law Craig Bancroft. She will also be forever missed by her MacDonald/Knapp/Sawyer clan, the D’Eon family and by so many of her friends, particularly Bill and MaryAnn Brady. Born in Mandaumin on March 18, 1928, she built an early career in radio in Sarnia. Together with her husband, Arnold A. Bitz (pre-deceased 1997), they enjoyed many years of family, fun, travels, and the friendship and community of the Sarnia Yacht Club. Elaine embraced the joy in life and inspired all of us to do the same. Her annual New Year’s resolution was to share a smile or laugh with someone every day. The funeral service will be conducted at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London on Monday, October 16, 2017 at 11:00 a.m., with visitation one hour prior. In lieu of flowers (please No Lilies – as Elaine really disliked them), please consider a donation to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Ontario or Ronald McDonald House.

Dear Doris and Craig Please accept our deepest sympathy on the loss of your beloved mother. Aunt Elaine was warmth, grace and joy personified -- she lived her life with love and laughter. She will be sadly missed.
I had the pleasure of knowing Elaine for a very short time as she was a table mate of my mother's at Horizon Place. The ladies were very saddened by her passing as was I. I will miss her daily smile and laughter. She always was so positive and I loved to hear the stories she would tell of the neighbourhood kids coming after school for chocolate chip cookies and our discussions on world events. She was always so appreciative of everything you did for her. She was thrilled with the fresh fruit offerings and it made my day. She was very proud of her daughter and shared her family stories with us all. I will miss you Elaine and all the support you gave my mom.
Doris Please know that the thoughts of members of the Sarnia Yacht Club are with you and your family. Your Mon and Dad were 'fixtures' around the Club as well as you kids growing up. Please let your friends share your grief to make the burden lighter.
So sorry to hear of Elaine's passing. She was always so good to me, interested in what I was up to, and a caring, genuine person. Doris, you were the twinkle in Elaine's eye, and she was so proud of you. Sending sincere condolences to you and Craig.
Doris and Craig - We send our deepest sympathy to you both. Your Mom was a very special person, so cheerful and positive, even when she wasn't feeling the best. All your happy family times with her will be her legacy, hold them close. Hugs from all the Bowdens.
Doris and Craig Peter and I were so sorry to hear of Elaine's passing. We remember her thoughtful and caring nature, Arnold and her practical joke on a particular neighbour's birthday and the great party she threw for one of Mum and Dad's anniversaries. Please remember your Plantation Road friends and don't be a strangers.
Dear Doris, My deepest symapthy in the passing of your Mom. Jennifer
