Edward Michael Arnett-Sanders

February 9, 2021

Passed away peacefully with family by his side on Tuesday, February 9, 2021, at Victoria Hospital, in London, following a brave battle with multiple cancers for over a year. Beloved husband of Gerald Alexander (Jerry) Sanders SR. for 40 years. Ed was born in Owen Sound, the fifth son of Wilbert McLaren Arnett and Eunice Ruth Wells-Reburn Arnett. Dear brother of Thomas; Jon (Judy); Robert (Mary); and sister-in-law, Anne (William). Adored stepfather of Kim (Bob) Case and Jerry II (Cheryl) Sanders. Cherished by 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Dearly missed by the Arnett nieces, nephews and all of their families; and remembered by numerous friends and acquaintances that Jerry and Ed have met on their amazing travels! Predeceased by his father, Wilbert (Wib) (1996); mother, Ruth (1998); brother, William (1996); sister-in-law, Joanne (Tom) (2007); stepdaughter, Arlie Saunders (2015); and dear granddaughter, Stacey Case (2001). Ed took Fine Art degree courses from the University of Western Ontario and graduated from Fanshawe College School of Design. In his earlier years, Ed worked in Interior Design at Jensen’s Guild House Furniture; he also did runway modelling in London, Toronto, New York and Montreal. After meeting the love of his life, they worked together for over 30 years as partners at their businesses: Sanders on the Beach and Hotel Mainstreet, both in Grand Bend. Cremation has taken place. A private celebration of Ed’s life will be held at a later date with an interment of ashes at the Sanders family gravesite at Embro Cemetery, Oxford County. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Ed are asked to consider Happy’s Place – Retirement Home for Dogs.

Dear Jerry. We're thinking of you at this sad time. You can't prepare for such a great loss of love and companionship. In our memories, you and Ed will always be together: reading on the porch, working in the garden or on a house project, taking exceptional care of Princess & Little Bit. We will miss our neighbour and remember him always. May your many special memories of Ed give you strength & peace.

~ Denise & Jim

I was so deeply sorry to read of Ed's death in the Owen Sound paper. Ed and I were such good friends through high school and university/college days. So much time spent at the Arnett house...so many parties and teenage antics. Though we drifted apart as people will do, Ed will always be a happy part of my memories. Rest in peace old friend.
