Eileen Caine

Surrounded by the love of her family and the music of her youth, Eileen (née Genttner) Caine passed away peacefully at the age of 97 years on Sunday, August 16, 2026. Eileen has now rejoined her beloved husband of 55 years, Arthur Caine (2004). Dearly loved mother of Janice Leckie (late Brent) and Doug Caine (Cheryl), both of London. Eileen will be forever remembered by seven grandchildren: Lisa Leckie; Laura Kaufmann (George); Andrew Leckie (Stephanie); Adam Leckie; Scott Caine; Matthew Caine (Vanessa); and Jenna Caine. Cherished great-grandmother (known with great affection as “Grandma Grapes” and “Ma”) to eight great-grandchildren: Isabella Leckie; Lucas, Curtis, Rhys and Charlotte Kaufmann; and Eli, Poppy and Oliver Caine. She is reunited with her much-loved siblings Lloyd Genttner, Carl Genttner, Ray Genttner and Marie Orosz. Aunt “Andy” will also be warmly remembered by many nieces and nephews.

Eileen was born in Exeter, Ontario, on November 30, 1928 at the kitchen table of her parents, Charles Genttner and Vera Luther. She graduated from “Beal Tech” in London and soon after met her husband Art. Art and Eileen both enjoyed dancing together at Wonderland Gardens in their youth, and their children have many cherished photos and postcards from this time. As a wife and mother, Eileen worked hard to keep food on the table and clothes on her kids, working as a salesclerk in downtown London. In later years, Eileen enjoyed spending time with her family at her trailer near Grand Bend. Of these times, her grandchildren will carry forward lovely memories of card games and bingo with Grandma, “firecamps”, the hammock, lawn darts and porch sitting. Eileen kept busy knitting, donating countless hats for newborn babies to local hospitals.

Eileen’s family extends their thanks to the staff at Henley Place for the loving care they provided her over the past years. Visitation took place at Westview Funeral Home and Cremation Centre on Friday, August 21, 2026, followed by a family service at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Society Southwest Partners would be appreciated by the family.
