Eleanor “Ann” Zamprogna
March 22, 2026
On March 22, 2026, Ann Zamprogna passed away peacefully, with family by her side, in London, Ontario in her 88th year.
Ann was born in Brantford, Ontario to the late Eleanor (née Hanley) and Columbus Brady. She was a loving wife and huckleberry friend of 60 years to the late Orlando Zamprogna (2022), a proud and loving mom of her three girls, Lisa (Darin Deschamps), Julie (Joaquim Ballès), and Laura, an adoring Grandma to Daniela, Michaela and Liam (Deschamps), and Miquel, Brent and Estée (Ballès), and a caring sister to Christine McPherson (Al McPherson) of London, and Jim Brady (Lynne Brady) of Fenelon Falls. She will be greatly missed by her many family members and cherished friends.
Ann was a talented student with an independent spirit. After graduating from high school two years ahead of her cohort, she bought a car with savings from her job at the library and went to study nursing at St. Michael’s Hospital, Toronto where she graduated as a Registered Nurse in the top of her class (1959). Ann also attended the University of Western Ontario where she graduated with her diploma in Public Health Nursing in the top of her class (1961).
Ann was a dedicated nurse throughout her career, in both hospital and public health sectors, including St. Michael’s Hospital Toronto, St. Joseph’s Hospital Brantford, St. Joseph’s Family Medical Centre London, the Middlesex-London District Health Unit, the Victorian Order of Nurses, and the Community Care Access Centre. Ann was also an instructor of various health programs in the community, in high schools, and in the Faculty of Nursing at Western University.
Together with Orlando, Ann was an enthusiastic contributor to her community of London, where they settled in 1965 and raised three daughters. She served on the Board of Directors of the Ontario Heart Foundation, Meals-on-Wheels, Theatre London, the London Art Gallery, and she volunteered her time in the Department of Family Medicine at Western University, University Hospital, Northridge-Stoneybrook Community Association, Stoneybrook Sports Association, May Court Club of London, U.W.O. Faculty Wives Association, and Engineers’ Wives Association.
Ann was known as an accomplished pianist, an avid reader, a theatre enthusiast, an adventurous traveller, a determined curler, cross-country skier and tennis player, a keen Bridge player, a genuine friend, and a devoted mom. Hers was the table where family and friends gathered and made wonderful memories. Her thoughtfulness, wisdom, gentle guidance, and warmth will be missed, but will live on through those whose lives she touched.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Family Catholic Church, 777 Valetta Street, London, on Saturday, June 6, 2026 at 10:00 a.m., with private interment to follow. For those who wish, donations in Ann’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society Southwest Partners.
