In Loving Memory of Elizabeth Cleland
It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Elizabeth Cleland on Friday, June 26, 2026, at University Hospital in London, Ontario, following a brief but courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Glasgow, Scotland, Elizabeth immigrated to Canada as a young girl, embarking on a life journey that took her across the country. Over the years, she lived and made memories in Regina, Saskatoon, Ottawa, Toronto, Sudbury, Calgary, Medicine Hat, and Prince George, before coming to London and finally settling in Ilderton for her last 13+ years.
Elizabeth dedicated most of her professional life to serving others as a physiotherapist, specializing in rehabilitation and geriatric care, where her gentle spirit brought comfort to so many. Following her retirement from healthcare, her desire to serve led her to SEND Canada, where she continued to make a difference in donations administration.
She is now reunited with her beloved husband and best friend, Rodger (d. 2012), and her cherished daughter, Christine (d. 2015).
Elizabeth leaves behind a legacy of devotion as the deeply loving mother of David (Jolene) of Tauranga, New Zealand. She was a dedicated, interested, and engaged grandmother to Ash Humphrey of London, Ontario, and Māia Cleland of Tauranga, New Zealand, both whom she loved dearly.
She will also be missed by her beloved brother, Alex (Cathy) of Quispamsis, New Brunswick, and her dear nephews: Murray, and John (Laura) and their three young children.
Elizabeth was incredibly charitable throughout her life and supported a long list of causes close to her heart. Her kindness, dedication to others, and unwavering love for her family will never be forgotten.
A celebration of Elizabeth’s life will be held on Saturday, July 4, 2026 at 1:30 p.m. at the Community Bible Church, 100 Meadowcreek Drive, Ilderton, Ontario.
In lieu of flowers, Elizabeth would have wanted a donation to be made to a charity that makes a difference in your own local communities. Alternatively, donations can be made to some of her favourite organizations: SEND Canada, London Youth for Christ, or Forest Cliff Camp.

Leave a tribute
David, please accept my sincere condolences on your mother’s passing. I knew your family many years ago when I attended Westdale and lived on Mahogany Rd. Even though it was so long ago, I still remember Mrs. Cleland's kindness as she prepared snacks for Christine and me during our play dates. Her dehydrated pears have stayed in my memory all these years. Wishing you comfort and peace as you honour her life.

I am so sorry for your loss. Elizabeth was a dear woman. I’ll never forget our first year at the church she gifted us with a gift card to The Singing Chef before she even knew us! She was witty, honest, and kind and I will miss her.
