Elvira Cauchi

May 17, 2026

It is with profound sadness and deep gratitude for a long life well lived that the family of Elvira Cauchi announces her peaceful passing, surrounded by family, at St. Joseph’s Hospice in London on Sunday, May 17, in her 90th year. Beloved wife of Charles; loving mother of Deborah (John), Alicia (late David), and Darlene (late Fred); adored Nunna of Nicole (Dan), Andrew (Laura), Brandyn, Michael (Richie), and Andrew (Alyssa); and dear great-Nunna of Trinity and Audrey.

Born in Malta in 1936, Elvira was a woman of remarkable resilience, strength, and unwavering devotion to those she loved. Those who knew her understood that she was a special force—fiercely proud of her family, strong in spirit, and full of life. Even through grief and health challenges, she met life with courage and determination. In her later years, she found renewed happiness, meaningful friendships, and a strong sense of community at The Village of Glendale Crossing in London.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the physicians, nurses, and staff at St. Joseph’s Hospice for their compassion, dignity, kindness, and exceptional care, which brought great comfort to Elvira and her loved ones in her final days.

In keeping with Elvira’s wishes, a private funeral will be held.

Those wishing to honour her memory are invited to consider volunteering with or making a donation to St. Joseph’s Hospice in London.

Elvira, lovingly known as Nunna, will be deeply missed, forever cherished, and always remembered with love.

Debbie, Alicia, Darlene and families: I have wonderful memories of your Mom growing up and visiting on westminister drive. She was always welcoming to me and cooking and baking up a storm for pool and graduation parties. Her memory will live on in our hearts.
