Ethel Rose Hogg (née Smith)
January 28, 2017
It is with sad hearts we announce the sudden passing of Ethel Rose Hogg (née Smith) on Saturday, January 28, 2017. She is survived by her best friend and husband of 64 years, Doug Hogg. Also survived by loving daughter Brenda Thornton and cherished son, David; her brother, Fred Smith (the late Annie), of Peterborough; and sister, Carole Ann Dicker (Frank), of St. Thomas. A special and loving Grandma to Jeremy and Brian Goodenough; Jennica and Michael Hogg; and Melissa Thornton. Great-grandma to Jeremy Jr., Megan, Brian Jr. and Sarah. Great-great-grandmother to Logan and Nevaeh; loving aunt to many nieces and nephews; and dear friend to Clarence Dennie. Ethel is predeceased by their infant son, Frederick; her parents, Florence (Bilton) and William “Bill” Smith; and her sisters: Ellen McGibbon (Bill), Phyllis Haggis (Bert) and Jeanne Baxter (Jack). Ethel will be remembered for her caring, generous heart and devotion to family and friends. In her role as wife, mother, sister, Grandma, aunt and friend, we were the recipients of her wisdom and sound advice…whether sought or not. Many referred to Ethel as their “other” mother. She was a successful Nutrimetics Consultant for over thirty years in London and area. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 3:00 – 5:00 and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, where the funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, February 2nd, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. Interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a donation in Ethel’s memory are asked to consider their charity of choice.
Ethel, may you now rest
peacefully in God’s Arms.
You will be forever in our hearts.
