What a loving and joyful man. He welcomed me into his home 37 years ago...bellowing out "do you want a beer? or a rye?". Even as I was on the verge of taking away his niece! his family was everything to him, but that family extended far beyond blood lines. he had a remarkable capacity for loving, and I am thankful to be among the people who experienced that.

We have so many good memories of Evert, from times when our kids were little, his love of music, his ability to make people feel always welcome and even recently often chatting with him at Mac Donald's on Sat morning before our weekly groceries trip. Our prayers and our thoughts are with you at this difficult time. We'll see you both on Friday.

When God did creates the life He had in His mind that would be for us to enjoy . . . and we all enjoy as far as possible, but one thing sometimes we forget . . . God did creates us to have a time (good) in this world, but He also wants to play with us on heaven . . . and non of us wants to go so soon . . . I would like to present my sincere deepest condolences for the loss of my friend EVERT. . . every time we meet we always play with each other . . . and I was always listening from him . . . God bless the family and give them strength in order to carry on, pretending Evert still beside everyone . . . Rest in PEACE

Dearest Mary & boys~~ How sad I am that you lost your sweet Evert. He was one of my first boyfriends when I lived in Rothesay, NB. I'll always remember how he came up to me that winter at Lily Lake and asked for a skate. I loved his Dutch accent , his mild, polite manner and his wonderful sense of humor. Then years brought great changes. But through you, I was to meet him again and both of you visited me here in Sussex when you had the chance. How I enjoyed you both. I shall miss him, this tall Dutch man who liked this shy "German" girl, once upon a time and long, long ago. I will keep you in my prayers, Mary, and I know our Lord will bless you for the good wife you were and bring you COMFORT. Love, Sylvia Hamm
