Franklin Murray Awde

Passed away peacefully, at University Hospital, in his 94th year on January 30th, 2013. Frank was the devoted husband of Peggy for 69 years and father of Dr. Murray Awde (Kathryn) and Dr. Douglas Awde (Jane). Predeceased by parents Joseph and Anita Awde, brother Robert and sisters Evelyn and Marie. Dear grandfather of Graeme (Terri), Tracy (Bryan), Kevin, Daryn and Sam. Great-grandfather of Sydney and Chace and numerous well-loved nieces and nephews. Frank was born in Toronto, Ontario November 13, 1919. He became a certified management accountant, graduating with the top thesis in his class. This led him into a career that allowed him to travel the globe consulting in Australia, New Zealand, Hungary, the U.S.A and Canada. His work with numerous companies led to a teaching position at the University of Waterloo in Management Consulting. Due to his significant contributions, Frank was awarded an honorary life membership in the Society of Management Accountants of Ontario. He was also a member of the Canadian Professional Sales Association. He was a devoted family man, spending many hours with his family at the cottage on Lake Kushog. There he enjoyed boating, fishing, golf and especially cards at Club 35. Frank was an active member of the United Church of Canada throughout his life. Frank will be missed by his numerous friends and family for his wise counsel. The family wishes to thank the many caregivers who assisted Frank including the nurses of the Cardiac Unit on the 6th floor at University Hospital, and Dr. Dias and colleagues. A special thanks to Carol and Bob. Visitation will be held at Westview Funeral Chapel, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, Ontario on Friday, February 8, 2013 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. A celebration of life will follow in the spring. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to your favourite charity.
