Gerard “Gerry” Leslie
June 17, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gerard “Gerry” Leslie, beloved husband, father, and grandfather at Parkwood Hospital in London, Ontario, on Tuesday, June 17, 2025.
Born in St. Peter’s Bay, Prince Edward Island on February 1, 1942, Gerry cherished his early years on the Island. He spent his youth surrounded by family, enjoying outdoor adventures with his sister Mary and many cousins. Whether it was playing hockey on frozen ponds or waterskiing in the summer sun, Gerry carried the spirit of PEI with him throughout his life.
Gerry was the first in his family to attend university, graduating from St. Dunstan’s University (now UPEI), a milestone that marked the beginning of a successful career in the financial services industry. He later moved to Halifax, Nova Scotia, where he met the love of his life, Joanne, through mutual friends. Their love story blossomed into a lifelong partnership, taking them across Canada as Gerry advanced in his career. Together, they raised their daughter Kelly, who was Gerry’s pride and joy.
Gerry’s warmth, intelligence, and easy charm made him a natural connector of people. He had a deep passion for tennis and was a fixture on the courts at both the London Hunt Club and Western. He was equally known for his love of poker, organizing a weekly game that brought friends together for years.
Gerry will be remembered for his deep devotion to his family. He was predeceased by his parents, Marie and Joe Leslie, and his sister Mary (Mike) Burge. He leaves behind his loving wife Joanne; his daughter Kelly and her partner Michael; his cherished grandchildren, Abi and Cole, who were the light of his life; and many nieces / nephews and extended family.
A celebration of Gerry’s life will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2025 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Westview Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, 709 Wonderland Road North, London. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to Mission Services London – Men’s Mission in London, a cause close to his heart. Gerry will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.

Gerry was such a kind and decent man and was always there when you needed him. When my husband Bill could no longer drive and his life became so much more restricted Gerry would call from time-to-time and take Bill out for a coffee and a chat which was so very much enjoyed. Joanne, I am sure you and your family who he loved so much will miss him terribly but we all know he is safe and well now and not suffering any pain. Sent with love Bill and Gael Webster

Gerry brought joy to our lives on and off the court. Whether he was chasing down a tough shot or lining up a perfect pool break, he did it with passion, humour and grace. Beyond the games, it was his friendship that mattered most. Loyal, kind and always there -you could count on Gerry win or lose. Though he’s no longer with us, his spirit lives on in every serve, every joke, every memory we shared. We miss him terribly, but we’re grateful to have called him a friend. Rest easy, Gerry. Game well played!
Sending our sincere condolences to Joanne, Kelly and Grandchildren, Abi and Cole. The love Gerry had for his wife and family was immeasurable. He was a great guy with a big heart. We have lots of great memories over the past 50 years with Joanne and Gerry. He will be missed.
Barb and I were close friends with Gerry and Joanne. Gerry and I were both from St. Peter’s Bay (The Bay). We worked together, socialized and occasionally played very bad golf together. His sudden passing was a huge shock to us.
