Gladys Mary Schott

December 30, 1922 - November 26, 2025

Gladys Mary Schott, or “Glad” as everyone called her, was born on December 30, 1922, in Montreal, and spent most of her life in London.

She passed away peacefully in London, surrounded by loving family, on November 26, 2025, at the age of 102.

Gladys was the wife of Harvey Alvin Schott (d) and Robert Harvey Johnson (d). She was the mother of Jay Johnson (Joanne), Chip Johnson (d) (Janell), and Lesley Hamilton (Bob) (d). She was the grandmother of Steven (Emily), Sarah (Cole), Tracy (Matthew), Travis (Abra), BJ (Alison), and Michael (Taron). She was the great grandmother to 20 grandchildren: Levi, Hailey, Harvey, Ava, Lilly, Piper, Emma, Dashel, Jacob, Levi, Jessie, Jada, Alina, Maggie, Ellie, Bobby, Zachary, Chelsea, Owen, and Kate. She was the aunt to Charmaine Tatti (Joe) and Stewart Orange (Jacquie).

Her energetic spirit drew people to her and she lived a life filled with wisdom, humour and laughter. Those who knew her remember the sparkle in her eye when her son Jay would drive her around the Highland Country Club golf course or attend functions there together.

She was a London Knights season ticket holder for 15 years, her enthusiastic cheers joining other fans around the arena every time they scored.

Glad was a lifelong learner and believed in using her time to the fullest. When she was in her 90’s, Glad learned both to knit and paint, even holding several fundraisers using her knitting skills to make sock slippers, which she sold to raise money for charity.

Two of her favorite charities were London Humane Society and Victoria Hospital.

Glad’s faith in God was no secret, and she was always quick to share encouragement and God’s love with those around her.

Glad will be greatly missed by all her family and loved ones.

Funeral service will be held at Westview Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. followed by a reception at the Highland Golf and Country Club, 1922 Highland Heights, London, at 11:30 a.m.

Dear Jay, Leslie, and Glad's family. I am so sorry to hear about the passing of Glad. She was a very important part of my life growing up and often would babysit me. I have many fond memories of her including her beloved dog Penny, among other things. She was a bright light in my life and treated me as if I was her granddaughter. I had the honour of introducing my own daughter, Rosetta to her in 2016 and was so excited to do so. Thank you for sharing her with me. She will be missed. All my love. My your memories of her be a comfort during this time. Lots of love and strength. Tara Monica Bowers (daughter of Michael Bowers)
