Gordon Edward Guest

January 13, 2020

Passed away peacefully in London, Ontario, on Monday, January 13, 2020, after a lengthy struggle with Alzheimer’s disease. His loving wife, Carol, and immediate family, appreciate the support of family, friends, and the caring staff of Juniper at peopleCare Oakcrossing Long Term Care Home. Gord was born on November 27, 1936 on a farm near Dutton, Ontario. He was predeceased by his parents, Eva and Horace Guest; and by his brother, Eric. He will be held with fond memory by his siblings: John (Shirley), Rita (Larry), and Roy (Carla); and sister-in-law, Carolyn. Also, he will be mourned by his daughters: Sheri DeCaluwe (Darcy), Tammy Backwell (Duke), and Kim Guest; and their mother, Betty. Remembered always by his grandchildren: Clark, Melodie, Brooklynn, and Jett. Gord served as a pilot in the Canadian Air Force from 1957 through 1960, then joined Northern Telecom (Nortel) in London and was later transferred to headquarters in Toronto. He took an early retirement in 1992, after 32 years with Northern Telecom, and came home to London. He and his wife Carol enjoyed retirement by travelling often. They both especially loved cruises in warm climates in the winters. Also, both participated in lawn bowling for many years with Thistle Lawn Bowling Club until Gord’s diagnosis in 2012. A private service will be held at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London with private interment at Woodland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a donation in memory of Gord are asked to consider the Alzheimer Society London and Middlesex. Having a love of nature, Gord’s personal wish would be to plant a tree!

“I can no longer see you with my eyes, touch you with my hands, but I will feel you in my heart forever.”
