Gregory Joseph Francis

April 18, 2025

Gregory Joseph Francis passed away peacefully at the age of 71, on April 18th, 2025, due to complications from COPD and heart failure. He was a beloved husband and companion to Renee for 35 years and a loving father to Matthew and Christopher Francis.

Greg’s life was marked by his care for his family, his love for golf, and his clever wit that brought smiles and laughter to everyone around him. He spent over 30 years working in the insurance industry, where he made many friends and left a lasting impact. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy lives on through his wife and sons, who will carry forward his memory with love and pride.

Greg is survived by his father John (Jack) Francis, stepmother Margaret (Maggie) Monk, sister Tracy Francis, and niece Brandy Leigh from his sister Winter (Bonnie) Leigh (deceased). He was also predeceased by his mother, Myrtle (Sally) Francis.

It was Greg’s wish to have a peaceful goodbye with his immediate family, without a service, but to remember him with fun and laughter. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the London Health Sciences Foundation, supporting COPD or Heart Disease Research.

Rest in peace, Greg. You will always be remembered with love and fond memories.

I met Greg 40 over years ago. I needed car insurance and Greg had it. Greg’s easy going demeanour and wonderfully, dry sense of humour made him instantaneously likeable. A common love of golf cemented the friendship. Greg’s game was in its infancy then, and he wasn’t that good, but it was easy to see the passion that would sustain him the rest of his life. Heck, he even got better than me over time. Something that he’r rib me about with that wry wit of his. Unfortunately, we lost touch over time, life has a way of doing that, but whenever I thought about Greg it brought a smile to my face. He was a special guy, not many people shared that potent mix of kindness, caring and comedic wit. I’m very sorry to hear of his passing and send my tardy condolences to his family and friends. I like to think of him up in the sky, breathing easy, with a wry smile on his face, an easy joke at the ready and a 9-iron in his hand. Swing easy, Greg. Save a place in the cart for me and I’ll catch you on the back nine.
