Harold Baerthel

Surrounded by his family at Victoria Hospital on Tuesday, June 17, 2014, Harold Rudolph Baerthel, of London, passed away peacefully at the age of 79. Husband of his beloved late wife, Cecile “Zilli” (1999). Loving father of Connie (Dennis) O’Shea, Monica and Daisy, Mike (Jodi).  Dear Grandpa of Michelle (Tarun) Jajal, Melissa (Dohn) Canceran and Andrew.  Dear Great-grandpa of Kaeden, Koen, Dior and Addi. Predeceased by parents Rudolph (1970) and Elsbeth (2013).  He will be sadly missed by several nieces, nephews and cousins in Germany.  Harold was a retired Logistics Professional at CN Rail and CNCP Telecommunications.  Following his retirement from CNCP, he taught at Humber College in Toronto, for a number of years.  He remained active with the CN Pensioners Organization, the London West Conservative Party and his local Condo Board.  Visitation will be held at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, on Friday, June 20th, from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. where the memorial service will immediately follow at 3:00 p.m.  A private family interment will be held at a later date.  Our heartfelt and special thanks go to the incredible EMS and Fire Department responders, along with the Nurses, Doctors and support staff at the Victoria Hospital Trauma Centre.  In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a donation in memory of Harold are asked to consider the London Regional Cancer Program.
