Harry Josten

April 15, 2016

Peacefully at Victoria Hospital on Friday, April 15th, 2016, in his 84th year.  Beloved husband for 57 years of Ina.  Loving father of Josie Josten and Wilma (Dan) Clarke.  Proud Opa of Andrea (Jarret) Peterson, Matthew Clarke (Sarah Walker) and Stephanie Clarke.  Dear brother of Dina Vandenbrandt, Ben Josten, Riet (Dre) Hoefnagel and Piet (Corrie) Josten.  Predeceased by four brothers and one sister.  An avid sports enthusiast, Harry followed his grandchildren to many arenas, gyms and soccer fields.  He cheered on the London Knights, especially during the four years that his grandson played for the team.  The family extend special thanks to all the staff of the CCTC, CCU and 5C at Victoria Hospital for their kindness and support.  Visitation will be held at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, on Monday from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m.  The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at ST. JOHN THE DIVINE PARISH, 390 Base Line Road West, London on Tuesday, April 19th, 2016 at 11:00 a.m.  Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Harry are asked to consider the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Ontario or The Kidney Foundation.

Ina, Josie, Wilma, & Family, we only knew Harry a short time while he was in hospital. My dad (Jay) grew close to him over the time they spent together at 5C. Harry was kind to my dad and welcoming to us when we visited. He was always smiling and kept us up-to-date with the London Knights' schedule, and it was a relief knowing that dad was in such great company with Harry at Victoria. We are so saddened by this loss and will miss his friendly waves. Our deepest condolences to you all.

Mrs. Josten, Josie, Wilma, Dan and Family: We were very sad to hear about Mr. Josten. At family functions he was always so warm and kind to us. He set a great example of a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather. We know that he was extremely proud of his whole family. Our thoughts are with you at this very difficult time.

Ina, Josie, Wilma, Dan, Andrea & Jarret, Matt & Sarah, Stephanie, We have know you all for so many years. Harry and Ina were always so welcoming at their home, with invites to the pool and the opportunity to see Harry's amazing gardens. We had many a drink at his bar. He was so very proud of his daughters, his son-in-law, and his grandkids. Our own daughters knew and loved "Opa" since they were born. He was a kind, sensitive, but honest and forthright man, one who give the shirt off his back to anyone who needed it. He'll be missed, but is now probably lovingly tending God's garden...
