Hassen Bhamjee

Dr. Hassen Bhamjee of London, Ontario passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at the age of 77. Dearly loved husband, father and Poppa, Hassen is survived by Alma, his wife of over 48 years; his son David (Margot); daughter Miriam (Barham); and his four grandchildren: Madeleine, Matthew, Oren and Simon. Hassen also leaves behind two brothers in South Africa and many nieces and nephews.
Born in Pretoria, South Africa in 1939, Hassen studied medicine at the Royal College of Surgeons in Dublin, Ireland. After graduating in 1969, he and Alma immigrated to Canada and he began work at Victoria Hospital. Hassen entered private practice and proudly served as a family physician in London for over forty years. After retiring from private practice in 2012, Hassen continued doing the thing he loved by working in medical clinics until 2016.
Thank you to all Hassen’s friends, colleagues and co-workers for their support. A very special thank you to the doctors and nurses in the Critical Care Unit at Victoria Hospital and the Intensive Care Unit at University Hospital. Additional thanks to the Nephrology and Transplant teams at University Hospital, to the dialysis nurses at University Hospital and the Westmount Dialysis Centre, and to Abdel and Agathe from St. Elizabeth Healthcare.
Following prayers at the London Muslim Mosque (151 Oxford Street) on Wednesday, August 23rd, 2017, Hassen was laid to rest.
Friends will be received at Westview Funeral Chapel (709 Wonderland Road) on Friday, August 25th between 6:00 and 9:00 p.m.

Mrs. Bhamjee, Dave, Miriam, and family...I was so sad to hear of Dr. Bhamjee's passing. You're all in my thoughts and prayers. God Bless.
Dr Bhamjee was our family physician for 40 years till he retired and gave us such good care. We remember him with thankfulness for his gentle ways. My condolences to the family.
Thank you Dr. Bhamjee for being such a caring and kind doctor to our generation of families including children and grandchildren. Our many condolences to the family for your loss. He will be kindly remembered.
