Helen Christina Gidley

August 18, 2011

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our wonderful mother, mother-in-law, nana, great nana, sister-in-law and friend, who passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 18th, 2011 at The McCormick Home in London, Ontario in her 103rd year. Helen Christina Gidley now joins her late husband Edward (1949) in heaven. Only daughter of the late Lillian and James Jackson. Beloved mother and mother-in-law to Barbara and David White, Don Gidley and Sue Parke. Forever loving nana to Kristen and David Lewis, Paul and Marnie Merritt, and Sherry White. She was a proud great-nana to Cal and Jordyn Lewis, Kennedy, Logan and Mallory Merritt. Lovingly remembered by her sister-in-law Margaret Hartwick. She will be remembered with love by the many people whose lives she touched with her cheerful nature, patience and wonderful memory. Remember her with a smile that will touch her soul as she touched so many. She was so special – the love of our lives – a treasured gift. She had a heart full of love, she loved to laugh, sing and dance. The family will be forever grateful for the tender care she received from all the staff at The McCormick Home. She knew you all by name and loved all of you. Your compassion and care will be remembered and cherished. Special thanks to Dr. B. Yemchuk and Oak Ave staff. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Friday, August 26th, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in The McCormick Home Chapel, 2022 Kains Road, London. Donations to The McCormick Home Foundation will be gratefully received. Online condolences available at >www.westviewfuneralchapel.com

I had only one occasion to meet your mother, Barb, and since then I felt I grew to know her more deeply through you. I admired the devotion, tremendous respect you had for her not to mention your untiring care. What a witness to a healthy and loving mother-daughter relationship you demonstrated while she lived with you and Dave and while in McCormick Home. I send my sympathy and love to you at this time. May her legacy be a constant source of strength and hope for you.
