Hilda Ruth Libal

December 22, 2025

Hilda Ruth Libal is now living with her Lord and Saviour, having passed away peacefully at St. Mary’s, Mount Hope Centre for Long Term Care, London, on Monday, December 22, 2025, in her 99th year.

Born March 13, 1927, she spent many blessed years with her beloved husband, Klemens, living on three continents.  Their daughter, Maree, was born in Melbourne after they emigrated from Germany to Australia.  After six wonderful years in Australia, they moved to Canada, where they lived a happy and fulfilling life in London for over six decades.

Here, she first worked at London Life and then later retrained as a hairstylist and ran her own salon. She was an accomplished photographer and film developer. She spent many happy hours gardening and tending to her roses. She loved music and all sorts of crafts, excelling at sewing and knitting. She enjoyed travelling with Klemens and capturing the beauty around her on film. She was devoted to her family, filling our lives with love and beauty.

Loving wife for 71 years to her late husband, Klemens. Loving mother to Maree and son-in-law, Ian.  Loving and proud grandmother to Jonathan and Matthew (Mikyla) and great-grandmother to Keanna. Caring aunt to Cornelius (Rose), Helen (Dave), Andrew (Martina), Doris (Victor), Kornel (Brigitte), Edith, and the late Brigitte, and their families.

Donations in Hilda’s memory can be made to St. Joseph’s Healthcare Foundation, London, in support of Mt. Hope Centre for Long Term Care, where she received such excellent care from the SM3 staff or to London North Park Community Church.

Visitation will be held at Westview Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, on Sunday, January 4, 2026, from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m.  A Celebration of Hilda’s Life will be arranged at a later date.

Maree & Family, My sincere condolences on the passing of your dear Mom. I had the privilege of being assigned to your Mom for many years as a care team member from North Park Community Church. We had some lovely conversations over the years and she truly was a wonderful woman. I hope that God will comfort and bless you in the days and weeks ahead.

Maree & family we have just learned of the passing of your mother Hilda. We have such fond memories of our times together at Adelaide Church. She and your dad contributed so much to the life of the church. We recall the beautiful folded paper decorations she added to our Christmases. We are so pleased to know she is now with Jesus and her husband. We note that you have a wonderful family to enjoy now. May you be blessed by them as they distract you from your loss of mother. She was an amazing lady and we are blessed to have had her example and influence. Be comforted by our Lord.
