Sympathy to Bev, daughters, siblings and all family members on the death of Howard. I had seen Rick's posting on facebook and it just seemed so fast because it was just this past fall that a former Montreal Citadel person put out a request for prayer for Howard. I phoned Howard to talk with him on that occasion and he was very strong in his faith and wanted his battle to remain private. My images of Howard are of a youthful, smiling Phys Ed teacher. As a younger teacher in the same Montreal School Board, I looked up to him. Just a year ago Howard sent me via the internet, photos of both our families and other Montreal Citadel friends, taken when we were children on the beach in Ocean Park, Maine. Such memories! - as a little girl at the beach I often played with Howard and Chester. I didn't have a brother yet and I so wanted a brother like Howard and Chester and the Colley's. Last time I saw Howard was at the final weekend at Montreal Citadel on Drummond St. He still looked the same - ever youthful! He was a faithful Christian to the end and is celebrating his first Christmas in Heaven.

God's peace and comfort to Bev, Karen, Allison, Sue and family. Howard's faith has carried him home. What a joy it was to sing in his choir at Westview Baptist Church for so many years. Philip and I send our deepest condolences to you all....with a hug and a prayer.

Sending prayerful thoughts and sympathy your way Bev and to your daughters, Howard's siblings -Marilyn, Chester and Rick, and other family members. A year ago this time Howard sent me via email and the internet photos from our shared childhoods on the beach at Ocean Park, Maine. I'm so glad I chatted with him this past November. I will always remember a youthful and fun person who I looked up to at the Montreal Citadel corps and as a bit older colleague in teaching high school for the same Montreal Board. It's hard to lose a loved one at Christmas but imagine what his 1st Christmas in the presence of Jesus must have been like. Howard will be missed by many, including me.

My deepest sympathies to Bev and the rest of the family, I was saddened to hear of Howard's passing, but I take comfort knowing he is with The Lord. He will be missed by many, and leaves a legacy of love and service.

I was very saddened to read of Howard's passing in the paper this morning. We taught together at Cleardale and I remember him as a man of strong character and integrity. Howard was always good natured with a smile on his face and a sense of mischief not far behind. He worked hard and had the respect of fellow staff members and the kids in his Phys. Ed classes. My condolences to the family.

My condolences to all of the Phillips family. I have fond memories of Howard from teaching at Nicolas Wilson P.S. in the late 1980s. Howard taught in the open quad beside me for the first 3 years of my teaching career. He was a wonderful mentor -- always calm, caring, and wise. And the students adored him. I remember how he smiled when a student gave him a mug at Christmas with an "F" on it, for Phillips. He always spoke with such fondness of his family and his church. Please accept my deepest sympathies.

Dearest Bev I will be thinking of you today and am so sorry I can not be in London to attend Howard's funeral. I know these are very sad days for you. Thankfully you have a wonderful family and so many wonderful friends to lean on and provide support. But I know as wonderful as these individuals are they will not replace Howard's presence and love. My thoughts and prays are with you today and in the weeks ahead.

Deepest heartfelt sympathies to the Phillips Family on the great loss of your precious loved one. We at Riverside P.S. were blessed by his many countless hours of coaching and his kind heart towards our students. Praying for God's comfort and strength during this difficult time.

Deepest sympathies to the Phillips Family. We have many fond memories of Howard from our Westview days. His amazing leadership with the choir and all those years of organizing ball. His commitment to all and his caring spirit will be cherished by many. So sorry for your loss.
