Ian Brickenden Dale

August 5, 1945 - April 28, 2025

Ian Brickenden Dale, age 79, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family at Victoria Hospital on April 28, 2025.  He was born on August 5, 1945 in Ottawa, Ontario.  He graduated from London Central High School and Sir Wilfred Laurier University.  He is survived by his wife Anne and their three children.  His focus and joy were his children Erin (Shelley Barlow), Collin (Courtney), and Kristin Irwin (Brett).  He was a proud Bubba to grandchildren Tegan and Alexandra Dale, Wyatt and MacLean Irwin, and loved attending their games and activities.  He is also survived by Gayle Collins and several nieces and nephews.

Ian was an active and proud Mason and was Past Master for both Kilwinning and Doric Lodge (Rising Star).  He was a member of Scottish Rite and served as Thrice Puissant Grand Master London Lodge of Perfectino 2002, and was Coroneted Honourary Inspector General 33 degrees by Supreme Council in 2007.  Royal Order of Scotland, Royal Arch Masons and a Board Member of London Scottish Rite Learning Centre.

He was an avid fan of many sports, especially golf and a lifelong supporter of the Montreal Canadiens.  He engaged passionately in everything he did.  Ian was a coach and past board member of many sports associations, including London Ringette and Oakridge Optimists.

He loved dogs, and despite allergies, formed strong bonds with all the animals his children left behind.  But most important of all to him was family.

To those who touched his life, during his last days Ian was thinking of and appreciating the many friendships forged through the years.

To Ian's family I am so sad to hear of Ian's passing. He was an excellent brother in Masonry, a true and loyal Scottish Riter, and a fine man. I hope that happy memories and the love of family and friends will help support you during this sad time.

I had the distinct honour and pleasure of working with Ian at London Life for many years. I knew that when Ian took on a task it would be done well and, more importantly, that every one working on it would feel good about the process and the outcome. One of his many skills was getting everyone working to the common goal. I also enjoyed Ian's sense of humour, sometimes at his own expense. Playing golf with him was always a pleasure. He made everyone feel at ease regardless of their skill level.

We always said we hit the jackpot when Ian and Anne moved in next door. Better neighbours don't exist. We will miss his affability and wit. Our deepest sympathies to Anne, Erin, Collin, Kristen and their families.

~ Cathy and Peter Doyle

Our sincere condolences Anne in Ian’s passing. Great memories going back many years ago .
