Ian (John) Buchanan

January 16, 2026

Peacefully with family by his side, on Friday, January 16th, 2026, at home, at the age of 81. Beloved husband of Judy for 56 years. Loving father of Graham (Anne) and Heather (Kelly). Adored grandfather of Jacob, Ashley and Jackson.

Predeceased by parents Mary and James Buchanan and sister Morag (Steve) and loving older brother to Anne (Carl).

Ian was a man on a mission in all aspects of his life. Whether through his love for his church, photography, playing golf, travel or enjoying his football, he did it all to the fullest.

Retired after over 40 years at Air Canada. Ian lived in Hamilton, Scotland, Montreal, London, England, Oakville, and the past 14 years in London, Ontario. Ian enjoyed being with many friends and family, sharing stories and sampling his whiskey collection.

Visitation will be held at Oakridge Presbyterian Church, 970 Oxford Street West, London on Friday, January 23, 2026 from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m., where the Celebration of Life will be conducted on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at 11:00 a.m.  The Celebration of Life will be livestreamed. Ian was a tremendous worker of the church. I had the privilege to serve with him on the MacLean Estate Committee (Crieff Hills). Ian’s contributions to the committee and the wider church were truly exceptional. His life was a testament to his faith, characterized by a deep sense of dedication and enthusiasm. The Crieff Hills Board of Directors extends its sincerest condolences. We honour his memory and give thanks for his devoted service.

Dearest Judy, condolences on the passing of your dear love, husband and friend. May the Lord sustain you in His Peace as you travel these next steps in grief. Hugs anytime, your friend - M.

Judy my heart aches for you and your children. I think he had a strong sense of self and faith to guide him through his fight against cancer. You were a team and on the same wave length about life, children and illness. Gord and I thoroughly enjoyed spending some time with you and Ian. The men had much in common and sadly now are both gone. Take time for yourself to absorb your loss and let others help you with the practical things to be done. I’m so sorry for your loss and will keep thinking of you and praying for all of you. Love from Martha❤️

Ian had a tremendous sense of humor usually at Judy’s expense. Together they made a wonderful team - with no shortage of laughs. They made a wonderful couple who will be missed by many .
