Ida Heinrichs (née Domes) passed away June 16, 2022 at age 89; survived by husband, Siegfried, daughters Sigrid Heinrichs and Lynn Sherriff (Peter & grandson Andrew Sherriff), and pre deceased by grandson Chip Sherriff and brother Tony Domes of B.C.
Born in Czechoslovakia, Ida came to Canada in 1955 to join her brother in Cochenour, a small town in Northwestern Ontario. Sig followed his heart across the ocean shortly after and they were married in the Cochenour church in the fall of 1955.
After raising her daughters, Ida worked at the Red Lake District Airport as a weather observer, eventually holding the contract for the weather station and employing other weather observers.
After 39 years in Cochenour, Ida and Sig retired to London Ontario in 1994, where many fun times were had with their daughters.
Ida was a kind, cheerful and optimistic person, who loved biking and walking and the feel of the wind in her hair; she enjoyed dancing, family times and the magic of Christmas. She WAS the magic, all year round, and was loved and is missed by many.
Cremation has occurred and private interment will be at a later date.
